Antec, Enermax, PC Power and Cooling, Fortron, Seasonic (not in any order) and this is only on top of my head.

Id add Thermaltake to the list.

And probably Zalman.

ChannelWell (most Antec/PCP&C are CW made), Fortron/Sparkle (the top line, "FSP" in the model no. made by Fortron - under many other labels too, just look for the FSP in the model no.), Delta (strictly OEM), HeroIchi (HEC). Thermaltake and Zalman don't actually make PSUs either- OEMed from someone.
. Look up the UL (RU symbol) file number (Exxxxxx) at www.ul.com to find out who actually makes any given PSU. You'll find out things like most Enlights are made by Sirtec/HighPower, Silverstones are made by Ehnance, and the above re. Channel Well, etc...
. Be wary if a PSU has an RU symbol w/o a file number below it . A TUV certification mark is also a good sign of a quality PSU - but can easliy be falsified just like RU. Use the TUV mark on the top brands as a reference for how it's supposed to look. I don't know if TUV has an equivalent of the UL file no. database.

Zalman was mentioned above, but they don't actually make PSUs - just OEM them. Just about any top brand with Active PFC (all Zalman have it) would be a top line model and would work as well. Apparently they are made by Fortron, but are a bit more customized than your typical rebadge as they don't bear the "FSP-xxxyy" model no. typical of Fortron rebadges like Sparkle or AOpen, etc. And I don't think you can get FSPs in black...

Fortron (same as Sparkle, Zalman)
Antec (uses separate voltage rails)
and finally if price is NOT AN ISSUE the absolute best, though the loudest of the 2 is PC Power & Cooling.

Others are welcome as well like Thermaltake (same as Enlight) and Enermax.

Fortron (powerful and quiet)
Antec (independant rails, around 30dB most times)
PC Power & Cooling (powerful and loud)

I prefer Fortron PSUs however.

I dont' buy anything other than Antec. I had a generic catch fire...okay smoke real bad, spark and stink like it was on fire. Guess if I waited longer I would of seen the fire. It fried my MB, SC, Video and DVD-ROM. Nope, Antec is my only choice. I had my p4 3.06, 768MB RDRAM, 7 ide, 6 fans, external devices (1 fw, 6usb, etc.) running on a 300w Antec.

Antec then the rest of them starting with PC Power and Cooling.

Sorry for the history, but wanted to let you know Antec rules. By the way, I called Antec to let them know there product rules and I was treated so badly. Customer services/sales stink, but product rocks!

Its the case of being lucky or not.

I and every one in my country buy Chinese made PSU's for less than 15 $ for a rated PSU of 300-350 Watts.

With just 1 Cooling fan, which is so lame its completely noiseless and Flowless, yet every one in m Country seems to run a normal PC with these PSU, but i got my Mainboard Cut off for ever, while my Ti 4200 gave so much problems for not being supllied proper power.

Yet after alot of searching manged to buy a 350 Watts Uknown Brand PSU for 15 $, and every thing for about 6 months is OK.

So for those of you wanting to buy TT's or Zalmans or Antec's, make sure yu chose you them wisely, Less famous Manufacturers like Sparkle or PowMax can still give stable power, again its a matter of luck.

I am pretty much happy that my System is runing, but ofcourse i may be in one sense over stressing my Mobo, so i am also ordering a TT Wingo Casing with 420 PSU.:D

Antec - Good heavy quality PSU's
Enermax - heard they are good
Seasonic - Ive got a poor little seasonic 300W going along for a while with a DVD ROM//DVD RAM/2 SATA HDD's/R 9800 PRO/ A64 3200+ and theres been no problems that i can directly relate to the PSU.

I had a Seasonic 200W micro ATX psu powering a full ATX AMD computer that was overclocked, all PCI slots full and 3 HDD + 2 optical drives.

PC Power & Cooling is the only one honest about the power at 40 degrees C ambient. I have six optical and tape drives, I need 450W at 40 degrees.

What wattage do you recommend for mild OC, 2 hard drives, 2 opticals, no lights or excessive fans?

Anything from 420 and up would run perfectly fine the Antec Trueblue480 or Truepower480 would be my reccomendation for you if you have 80 bucks to spend at newegg.com

Antec TruePower, PC Power and Cooling, Enermax, Fortron.

I lay emphasis on Antec TruePower for various reasons:
1. Seperated lines, stable and reliable
2. Fairly quite
3. Survived short-ciruiting 12v-5v. Some other parts (including keyboard) didn't.
4. Heavy -> quality
5. Very expensive, and that's a con. It's good, but my wallet cries.

Get at least a 430w.

Ken Sr-

In a quality unit, like a Fortron(Sparkle), Antec, Enermax, or HEC, 350W will serve your purposes with room to spare, honest. Even with a performance type vidcard. It's easy to spend more than required, and the need for high output units is radically overstated on many enthusiast type forums...

Havent Any oneone you read Mr. Anands PSU Articles, he is very much true that even a High Quality 350 watts or even a 300 Watts would do, Earlier this month he wrote an article on a few top end PSU's, they may specify 450-500 Watts, but practically are no good than 300-350 Watts.

So do you think a PowMax 580 Watts PSU for 30 $ would really Provide 580 Watts.
