Daikatana should be number one. I'm surprised they put Black & White as the #1 overrated game of all time. I think it's their guilty conscious over scoring it higher than they should have, combined with their unique location in the gaming industry scene. The only hype I ever saw for black and white were a few full page ads in Maximum PC.
Don't forget that they're not necessarily rating the game itself for how good it is. They're rating the hype. That's why I think Daikatana is forever the number one overhyped game. The disconnect between the years of advertising and the actual realease is a mighty chasm.

I pretty much agree with the list you compiled that DO NOT need to be on that list. Overrated games? Puhlease. The games I think have no place on that list:

Morrowind: It was never overrated in the first place IMO, it is a good game and shouldn't be on that list.
Black & White: Totally agree! I liked the game, but it was nowhere near the masterpiece that everyone made it out to be.

FFVII: Yeah, it was ok but not the pinnacle of gaming that everyone says it is. FF6 was better.

i disagree with the way the list was slapped together. of all time?!?!
where is 7th guest (or, more accuratly, the 11th hour) or almost ANY of the wing commander games or C&C or any of the millions of big deal games that just stunk...i mean, this list in mostly of the recent, no?

Super Mario Sunshine - wasn't anything spectacular I agree, but I'm not sure where it was ever claimed to be. Who said it was going to be the "quantum leap" Mario 64?
Final Fantasy VII - I'm not big fan of RPG's. I've played VIII and hated it. Ughh, worst main character ever. IX was alright, but I monkey boy isn't much of a main character either. Played VII for the first time recently and it sure beats the other two I've played, even when its much older w/ sh1tty graphics in todays standards.
Black & White - Hell yeah overrated! Gah, can't believe I wasted my money on it. Played it for like a week and that is all.

well .. when they make comparisons to some of the best games within that genre, they can make any game overrated. pfft .. i think it's garbage.
Halo is great. If you aren't a gamer, then you don't have the experience of play FPS on the PC and therefore have nothing to compare it too. I think gamers on PC are relativly small in numbers compared to the console players. But i know when Halo came out, everyone i knew had to get it and played it to death. Hell even last night, i went to my cousins house and we had 8 people playing halo on 2 xboxes for 4 hours. Hardly overrated if you don't sit at a PC playhing FPS all day.
Mortal Kombat was fun. When they compare it to Street Fighter, of course they can draw the flaws. "Fans persevered, but its popularity was driven more by infamy than quality. " .. it's for the fans .. don't see how they can contradict themselves. These are coming from the intro and not the opinion of the sub reviews.

its overrated games list, and lots of people who never played FF2 or FF3 played that and claimed it was the best game ever. when both FF2 and FF3 blow it out of the water (though FF3 has the same problem with characters not having and differentiation between them. once everyone in your group can cast the best spell in the game for 1 MP twice a round it doesn't matter who you have)
I guess I'm partial to Q2 since I never played the original, but I played that game night and day...loving every moment of it.
