I also wonder about the McIntosh system found in the LLBean and VCD line of Subaru. I've heard Edmunds themselves drooling over that sound system.

Well, well, well I always knew the Monsoon system in my Passat was great. Now it is on paper at #6 not too bad. The best feature is the ability to set the volume to a preset level when you start the car. You know for the times you roll in off the highway and you have Pink Flloyd CRANKED and you get home. Well sometimes I would have it louder than my kids.............

LL Bean Subaru Outback's run ~$30k - it would really be pushing the $30k limit - just depends on the dealer I guess

BS, there are other GREAT sounding systems. I have a 6 point infinity system in my caravan, with 5 band equi and that little joystick fader. The system sounds so good, I am not going to bother changing them to infinity 6x9's or anything, I am just adding sub(s)(depends, me an viperoni are arguing between 1 15" Dayton DVC and (2)12" cerwin-vegas..)

I also think toyota deserves more credit too!

I agree with the Caravan. I remember driving my parents' minivan around town, those speakers sounded great.

<< I'm surprised there is no mention for the IS300. It barely sneaks in under 30k, but I would take the 8 speaker, 240 watt Nakamichi system over any of those listed. Especially the sloppy Bose systems.

Not round these parts... IS300's start around 31-32k here...

Actually MSRP is $29, 980. They usually are stickered around $31-32k, but it's not too hard to walk out of the dealership for right around $30k.
