While the civility of the death penalty is hotly debated (and far beyond the scope of this thread/post), I think you can agree that, at least in most parts of the world, we've progressed somewhat from public torture-executions.

I whole heartly agree with an eye for an eye. Can someone be rehabilited, probably but you know what, if you murder somebody you dont deserve to be alive imo. You took someones life, how is spending 20 yrs in prison as a leach to society make amends?

True. We've unfortunately moved to just finding more efficient ways of killing.

If we reinstated some of these capital punishments I think we'd see violent crime go WAY down.

No kidding. People would be deterred quite a bit by being boiled alive, flayed, etc...and scaphism is just horrible.

There is a point were the human nervious system will stop you from feeling pain. But the idea is still in your mind. Also even after the pain stops and the torture continues the mind will make you react like your feeling the pain so as to fool the pig doing the torture.

The worse torture would be to watch your family members killed.
