Ill admit it was my fault. I brushed every night before bed, but I ate lots of hard candy for the last couple of years. I had a cavity on that tooth and it was filled. A new cavity developed by the filling and resulted in the tooth you see above. Apparently the hard candy accumalted underneath the filling and wasnt completely removed with brushing alone. Ive only started using mouthwash as an extra precaution.

What they say about candy is true...watch it kiddos! D:

(Ive also been taking prednisone for years which made my teeth susceptible to this kind of thing)
Doubt mouthwash would work. A water jet maybe.

And man, did that thing decay like crazy. On a side note, I pulled my wisdom teeth this morning.

Jesus could have healed that tooth if you prayed hard enough.

Its not a matter of how "hard" you pray, its a matter of faith. And this kind of snuck up on me. I didnt see it comming. I did pray however that the dentist would be successful in removing the tooth, without damaging other teeth or loosening my gold crown on the tooth next to it.

There was lots of things that made it difficult: a bony jaw, deeply interconnected tissues and nerves, etc. They were pulling for at least 30 mins and I was jumping around all over the place as my lower lip was squeezed to death a few times, my bottom jaw was used as leverage and I was afraid one of my other teeth would crack under the pressure being used and so forth. Thankfully the prayers were answered and his 25+ years of experience paid off.

It was Dr. Goulding. I highly recommend him.

The only thing I took away from that was that you didn't have enough faith. Otherwise Jesus would have come back to heal your tooth.

That was disgusting, thanks felix. Lol

Whats up with your fang dog shark tooth ? That was wicked looking!

Now here's hoping you don't get a dry socket : /

But seriously, I'm sure they gave you post-op instructions... no smoking, no drinking out of a straw, no spitting, etc...

Yup, Im very aware of this peril. I have a piece of gauze in my mouth as I type this! I ate dinner with it in to prevent contamination of the rather large (1/4 inch deep?) socket. I took a small mirror and a bright LED flashlight to it and was shocked at its depth! It will be fun keeping that bad boy clean until I come up with the dough for an implant. 😱

In the meantime Im being very careful as I will be in surgery in three weeks and dont want ANYMORE health problems!!!!! This year was incredible.

I should have taken a picture of the tooth I had pulled last year. I apparently have really curved roots. One of them was almost curled around on itself.

You took my advice, good for you.

From looking at that tooth, it is probably better that you pulled it. They could of fixed it, but you would spend much more.
