Look on top of the chest in my photo, they're sitting there - it comes with some cheapy liners (think super thin yoga mat.) I'll use them until they wear out and replace them with something more durable. Craftsman chests however do not come with liners...they want you to buy their overpriced liners.

Additionally, we were returning the original craftsman 3 piece chest tonight at sears (talk about pulling teeth. If you bought it at a different Sears, they can't process your exchange or return. I'm REALLY done with Sears...) While we waited, I wandered and looked at their tool selection...and tool chest displays. I looked at one of their "grip latch" models, and while the latch is nice feeling...dear god, the metal! My HF 44" model has rolled edges on the top of the drawers, and also has metal that looks thicker and is MUCH more rigid - the Craftsman drawer walls were incredibly flimsy. Worse, their super deep drawers - drawers I could imaging sticking a bunch of heavy, large tools into...only had one slide on each side. The HF model uses two slides on drawers HALF as big. I couldn't find a single Craftsman model in the store that I thought looked well made. Ick.

I finally took my own advice and put in an order for the 72" HF box. I had talked myself up and down the price range all the way from the 44" HF to 55-56" base + top combos from strictlytoolboxes but finally settled on the 72" HF. It's more than I will need any time in the near future, and in the event I outgrow it hopefully they'll have a top chest for it by then.

Waiting for freight delivery + liftgate now as I have no way to deal with a 500+ lb box.

Can you still get any of the HF boxes on sale anymore? Seems like there is an exclusion on most coupons on the boxes.

They're perpetually on sale, from what I can tell. The 44" box hovers around $400 or so I think...and the coupons exclude the toolchests.

I'd love to be able to justify that toolchest...but the 44" one still has some space left in it for me to grow into. One day when I have a larger garage I can get the top chest and a better workbench :)

I have Craftsman tool chests, but they are from like 1984 or so. Build quality back then was better. If I had to buy today, it would be Snap On or Matco or maybe Cornwell Tools .. all of them have good products. I like full extension slides, so they work well and can handle the weight of your tools. Also check the Height on the normal size drawers, as some ordinary tools need just a bit more space.

Bought a Homak setup from Northern Tool. Really nice bottom and top chest. Paid for it, but waited until both units were marked down $300 from regular price. Should last a lifetime.
