What I want to know is what the hell maynard looks like. I have never seen a picture on any of the albums, any of the videos. All you get is freaky claymation and weird art and I love it.

The latest album didnt rock hard enough, but I appreciate it for what it is.

I heard that the singer was a really talent chemical engineer or something along those lines. True or false?

There are some pictures on their site Toolband.com

pictures of the band

I'm surprised you have never seen him. I like him best without hair. The whole band looks awesome on the stage though because it's more like a whole group identity rather than individuals.

Well, I never really looked too hard. Besides, the appearance of the band members is of little care to me. He could be a 500 pound quadrapeligic midget and I'd still like the band just the same.

What I respect about Tool is their capacity for writing lyrics that leave so much open to the interpretation of the listener. Back when songmeanings.com was still up, the Tool forum had some very interesting discussion, and scores of poeple would come away from listening to the same song with different meaning, yet all were affected equally but the thought that it provoked. Tool's songs also touch on a variety of interesting subject matter, many people find religious notions present, ie Eastern (46 & 2), Scientology lol (Aenima), and some people even consider Schism to represent factions of christianity falling out. They also touch on similar notions like false Martyrdom (eulogy) using imagery that is tinged with irony. Musically they are pretty amazing as well, with a knack for changing time signatures on the fly and unusual song structure, which I agree is radio unfriendly, however in my opinion their latest work is the most respectable. It is the one CD that I bought last year, the only one that I honestly deemed worth the money.
