Tool has a hidden christian agenda.

I think the band tool has a hidden christian agenda.

Opiate=A drug that people get hooked to. Naming a CD opiate would be attractive to non christian drug smoking people.

Undertow=What happens when you get hooked on drugs. you get pulled into an undertow. People that are lost (aka lost souls) will be able to relate well to the lyric content of the cd.

Aenema(sp?)=What you need after you have been hooked on drugs and driven through the muck of an undertow. People that are sick of feeling lost will be able to relate well to the lyric content of the cd.

Lateralus=The balance you find after being cleansed. People that have been through all other cd's and have felt the change are going to be more open minded to the spiritualistic nature of the cd, which is why the previous cd's were needed. Much of the content of Lateralus is near gospel, with all of the things that christian haters run away from removed, like the jesus and god talk. However, especially in the song lateralus, the feelings of worship and spiritualism are described.

I've also read that Maynard's dad is a preacher, so from a kid Maynard has probably been devising a way to "save" people and got all genius about it. Use music that hates on GOD as the bait, and slowly mold the cd content, one step at a time to that of a non-god hating point of view. Wait years between cd's so the content has time to sink in and cement its place in its listeners minds, and once everything is setup, drop the bomb, that Jesus is almighty and whalla, you just saved thousands of God hating individuals.

i don't think so. Tool is deep thought stuff. Anyways, in the christian world, they say everyone is God's "Tool" to do good...... I think its so frickin obvious

lol, you definately overread. In fact, wasn't that one of the things they do? Mask their lyrics as if it means one thing when it really means the exact opposite of what christians think?

Where's that April Fool's joke at, anyway, lol.

That sounds like something they would say, when in fact, they do mean the exact opposite! ;)

1 part borax, 10 parts water, and a turkey baster(sp?) ought to get you there.

regarding the song opiate, yep, cause taken in context of the CD opiate before the other cd's you would think the opposite, but since that cd, everything has worked away from the god hating. Look whats intertwined in the GOD hating, and look what is spoken between the part where he talks about ACID and Extascy.... satan/satan/satan

Choices always were a problem for you.
What you need is someone strong to guide you.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
What you need is someone strong to guide you.
Like me. Like me. Like me. Like me.
If you want to get your soul to heaven.
Trust in me now don't you judge or question.
You are broken now but faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
What you need is someone strong to guide you.
Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow.
Let me lay my holy hand upon you.
My gods' will becomes me. When he speaks, he speaks through me.
He has needs. Like I do. We both want to rape you.
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now.
Open my eyes, blind me with your light now.
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now.
Open my eyes, blind me with your light now.
If you want to get your soul to heaven.
Trust in me now don't you judge or quesion.
You are broken now, but faith can heal you.
Just do everything I tell you to do.
Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life now.
Open my eyes, blind me with your light now.

I had a friend once, he took some acid.
Now he thinks he's a fire engine.
It's okay until he pisses on your lighter.
Kinda smells kinda cool, kinda funny anyway.
Satan. Satan. Satan. Satan. Satan.
I had a friend once, he took some ecstasy.
Tried to marry me and everyone in the room.
He was sorta loving, kind of caring.
Kind of tried to fvck my lazy-boy.
He got a bit messy all over the curtains,
Armchair covers, throw pillows, and carpeting

youre reading into it way too much. if tools message is anything, its that we are all just a part of a big consiousness/at one with everything. and even that is just an excuse for them to use tools like fans to make money.

or worship satan:evil:

and the album themes just go along with getting older. i first heard tool when i was bout 17, im 31 now, and each album coming out has aligned with some of the way i see things in life. pretty great marketing, songwriting, exploitation, and timing id say. i wouldnt attribute it to some deep message or agenda, other than him singing about goin through life.

tool is a great band, my favorite. but theyre not any better than 100s before them, or that will come after.

Ah, but how about that lovely song Eulogy? I mean how many possible ways can you interpret(sp?):

:music: Get off your f%$#ing cross
we need the f%$#ing space
to nail the next one up. :music:

that could be applied to anyone going around spouting whatever brand of absolutes they feel they need to cram down someones throat. a martyr on the cross is just imagery. or it could be directed squarely at christianity. who knows?

uh, lots. and it's "to nail the next fool martyr".

judith:

You?re such an inspiration for the ways that I will never, ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your saviour has abandoned you

Fuck your god, your Lord and your Christ
He did this, took all you had and left you this way
Still you prayed, never strayed, never taste of the fruit
Never thought to question why

It?s not like you killed someone
It?s not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you broken down and paralysed
He did it all for you, he did it all for you

Oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you

Pray to your Christ, to your god
Never taste of the fruit, never stray, never break, never choke on a lie
Even though he?s the one who did this to you
Never thought to question why

Not like you killed someone
It?s not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ as if he knows the reasons why
He did it all for you, he did it all for you
He did it all for you

The only agenda Tool has is a wake the f!ck up you Judeo-Christian numbskulls agenda. Just listen to Third Eye, the Timothy Leary version.

Think for yourself
Question authority

Throughout human history, as our species has faced the
frightening,
terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are
going in
this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political,
the
religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort
us by
giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our
minds their
view of reality. To think for yourself you must question
authority and
learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable,
open-mindedness;
chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself.

Think for yourself.
Question authority.

agreed. imo its directed more at the religion and those that follow mindlessy like sheep, and less towards god or jesus. i could be wrong, but thats what i take from it.
