Looking to get one for my dad, anyone have one they really like? He mostly does small projects, so nothing too overkill.

I got a decent belt from Home depot, Husky brand. It has a quick release buckle, think like an air plane seat belt. Only has three general item bags with hard edges, and then a couple slotf for specific style tools, like a knife, hammer, screwdriver. It was about $15. There were ones that were higher, and with the exception of the material (mine is canvas, the more expensive ones were leather, so I would imagine they last longer) I didn't really notice any difference. But for my purposes, 4 years later, still just fine.

Perhaps we should start a crew. Night crew be damned... construction workers rise up!

Sadly, I've never owned a real tool belt.

Mine are leather and I have had them since 1980.

What kind of work does your dad do? He may be better off with a Bucket Boss or one of their bags. I prefer a nice bag in my hand rather than a bunch of tools on my waist.

I think more than you'd expect. I used to wear steel toes, PPE coveralls, hardhat, and ear protection (flash proof gear working at an oil refinery).

No I'm in a product development center for an oilfield services company and I still wear steel toes (required in the lab areas) and a spiffy nomex lab coat (required but kinda useless, nothing to cause an explosion in our lab - maybe in some of the others).

Army pistol belt is the only way to go. I used one daily for 20 years, and other than a little fading, it's in great shape. You have to make sure you buy genuine military, as some of the knockoffs are garbage.

I have a few. A full one, leather, that is pretty standard. Another that is a half leather that sits on one side or the other that you pass a belt through. I have another which is an apron with pockets. For a lot of people an apron works best. Keeps your cloths clean and you can put things like nails, screws, etc. in the pockets. Some people like to have a holster handy for a cordless drill. It's kind of an individual thing, there's a lot of different stuff available.

I've always used the cheap ones you tie around your waist. Just tie in a loop to hang your hammer.

I also have suspenders on it.
