Today a friend told me this he told me to lookup some of their lyrics and i would see how anti they are but I dont see it.

edit- I am christian and this matters to me because I like tool. No it doesnt mean I will stop listening to their music but dont turn this into a flame thread please.

a lot of bands are anti-christian. you just have to take the time to find these things out. Marilyn Manson anyone?

Many of their songs have deeper meanings than what is read. Check out the FAQ at toolshed to get some insight. There are other sites as well that give descriptions of some of their songs. As for being anti-christian, I'll let you all figure that one out from the FAQ and anything else you find.

go read the lyrics to Opiate, and youll see some of what people talk about. I dont see it as anti-christian, rather its questioning his faith...which im sure everyone does.

It must be very Christian to question one's faith.
Even the Apostles did it.
I am sure TOOL loves the Baby Jesus.

its music! take it at face value. god, i'm having trouble typing avter k beers. how can you say for wure what tool really meant by their lyrics. tool rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<< Oh no. Must burn tool cd! >>

We can have a bonfire! Yay!

Jokes, aside, I think they're anti-religion in general, but pro-spiritual. Perhaps dietists.

<< Opiate - Choices always were a problem for you. What you need is someone strong to guide you. Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow, what you need is someone strong to use you.. like me, like me. If you want to get your soul to heaven, trust in me .Don't judge or question. You are broken now, but faith can heal you. Just do everything I tell you to do. Deaf and blind and dumb and born to follow. Let me lay my holy hand upon you. My Gods will becomes me. When he speaks out, he speaks through me. He has needs like I do. We both want to rape you. Jesus Christ, why don't you come save my life. Open my eyes and blind me with your light and your lies. >>

Yes, I'd say they're fairly anti-religion.

is trent also anti religoin?

your god is dead. and no one cares. if there is a hell i'll see you there......

god money i'll do anything for you, god money tell me what you want me to do.... god money lets go dance on the heads of the sick..

s**t i'm forgetting tren't lyrics.

All bands are anti-christian! Just play their music backwards, you can clearly find subliminal pro-satan messages!

<< Maynard in A Perfect Circle supposedly sings about anti-Christian stuff in Judith >>

That's definitly true. Go check out the lyrics. The entire song is anti-god/jesus

or is he just more questioning his views/beliefs in the song instead of just bashing them 😛

Only if you take it literaly. Most of tool's music cannot be taken literally to get the intended meaning behind it. Judith is apparently about a person [Judith] and their blind faith.

i think Judith was attacking those who blindly follow, denouncing all other faiths. It was more of an "Open your Mind" kind of song.

Thats what i got out of it.

I was all about Perfect Circle until I read the lyrics. That's just jakked up. But I'm all about free choice. If you choose to listen to that, cool. I just don't.

Incidentally, if anyone happens to be looking for some alternatives, check out: Living Sacrifice, Spoken, ESO, East West, EDL, Justifide, Thousand Foot Krutch. These are some really hard, hard Christian bands that I've come to enjoy. I guarantee that at first listen to some of these, you wouldn't even notice you were listening to Christian music. Enjoy.

The first time I heard/read the lyrics to Judith I thought it reminded me a lot of the book of Job in the Bible. The singer (in this case Maynard) seems to be pissed at God and questioning Him. I wouldn't necessarily say it's anti-Christian. I think it's a fascinating song. 🙂

have you ever read tool's biographies on their official site? it's pretty funny, unless you're an idiot and take it seriously.
