The office just decided to pay for me to have a 6 meg cable connection at home, so I have to rethink my network setup...

diagram

At the router, all of the systems except for the uTorrent VM system will be bound to the cable wan port in IP. The uTorrent VM system will be bound to the wireless port for all outgoing traffic.

The circles represent hubbell ethernet splitter/economizers that allow me to squeeze the connection down into one pipe to get to the patch panel. From the patch panel, they will be separated out again and sent to their respective drops. Normally I'd be more inclined to put the router and cable modem in the basement, but I am really concerned about moisture and dust down there until I finish it.

What do you guys think?

i think that having uTorrent eat all you neighboors wifi is wrong and stupid. you have a freaking 6meg connection. give uTorrent 2-3 and have the rest for surfing.

I agree with ForumMaster. Using someone else's connection without their consent like this and chocking their bandwidth is simply wrong.
