Took my son shooting today.

This is probably the 4th time I've taken him to the range. He did really well.

Here is a quick vid of him shooting my Winchester .44 magnum lever action rifle. He is 12 years old.

We also shot the Ruger Mark IV pistol I bought back in August, first time shooting this gun actually. Ruger 10/22 was also fun as was my Colt Officer's Model and the Glock 9mm. I brought the S&W .44 Magnum but it never left its holster despite 90 minutes or so of range time.

My friend from Zurich is visiting and he went with us. Every time he comes here he wants to go to the shooting range and I never pass up an opportunity to go shooting with friends. We had a good time and I finally beat him in the shooting competition. 😀

I had to show him that. He got the hang of it pretty quickly. :biggrin:

At the end of the session we ran through a few magazines in the Mark IV pistol as fast as he could pull the trigger. He liked that.

And I have a wife too. 😛
 
Anyway, it was fun watching my son sling a 240gr hunk of lead down the range at a very lethal 1500fps. Part of the joys of being a father. 😀
 
That is a good age to teach shooting and gun safety. I think I got my first gun around that age (22 marlin rifle.) Had a lot of fun squirrel hunting 🙂

What range did you guys go to? I'm actually up near Temecula but have been thinking of making the trek over to Iron Sights. Is there another range down your way?

Awesome. Good to see kids getting involved in shooting. It's a lot of fun and important to exercise our rights. Looks like he had fun from the video!
 
Awesome! No outdoor places to go? Joys for a kid: shooting at quarters to put a hole through the quarter. We never found the quarters - once they were hit, they were gone.

That's the one we went to. Go early, it can get crowded.

There is an outdoor range near Lake Wolford but you have to be a member to shoot there. Those are the only two I know of in the area.

Zombie targets. There was another with a zombie grabbing a hot blonde, the goal is to shoot the zombie but not the blonde. She managed to survive with only a .22 shot in the arm. 😛
