But that pay increases dramatically over the first few year, right? Most gov't jobs pay crap to start with, but get better quickly. (And think about all of the days that the gov't employees get off for holidays!)

you are really ignorant. My mom who has been working for an airline for 10 years only makes 26K/ year. Any new hire at that airline starts out at $7.50/hour.

background checks are crazy, they even look at credit reports, if you have big debt they wont accept you! you have to even take polygraph test

BTW, Special Agents start at 40, I think. Then again, you need a degree and have to be over 23, i believe.

26K means different things in different locations. In San Francisco Bay Area, I would say it's pretty hard to live on anything short of 50K.

LOL. Yea thats tru. But 22k can be a lot. It depends on where u live. For example, 22k in Texas is like 30k here in NJ. But with no benefits that salary is garbage considering its for the FBI.
