Took a blind side hit in hockey last night...

Some cheap fucking douchebag decided to take a run at me in a non contact game. I didn't have the puck and didn't see the guy coming. I was five feet from the boards and ended up going in shoulder first then hit my head. My neck all the way down to tail bone are killing me and I've had a headache for over 24 hours now.

Nobody on my team seems to know which guy hit me, so I don't even know who I'm supposed to get back at.

I'm so pissed off right now...

webmd.com should be your first step, look up about 5 conditions that i could be and then suggest those to your doctor, then argue when he says you're wrong

Non-contact hockey?

Is that like non-contact sex or race car driving with a 35mph limit?

BTW, boxing matches start out with the phrase, "protect yourself at all times." Perhaps non-contact hockey matches should do the same.

all a medical doctor will do is give you a prescription for something that won't help fix the problem. your spine was traumatized out of alignment and your muscles sense potential instability, so they tighten up so your vertebrae don't move. that's what's causing your pain and your headaches. occasionally, a medical doctor will refer you to a chiropractor for this, but why waste the time and copay/deductible?

seriously, what's a medical doctor going to do other than give you a muscle relaxer for this? it won't fix the problem... seriously.

trust me, just go see a chiropractor.

Or he could have a real medical problem which requires a real doctor.

He could have a mild concussion since he got hit in the head.

If he's asymptomatic other than pain, there's no reason to see an MD. If he starts suffering from lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting spells, loss of balance, non-tension headache, etc, then sure - he should go get a concussion ruled out. However, his injury is likely musculoskeletal in nature. It wouldn't be inappropriate for him to see a chiropractor as his first line of action.

you've gotta be kidding me. let's say he got a mild concussion LAST NIGHT from getting hit (which is entirely plausible), aside from a headache, he's not exhibiting any symptoms that would require serious medical intervention. he's not passing out or dizzy or vomiting or anything, so it's really not anything to get his brain checked over.

he has no neurological or brain trauma symptoms, only musculoskeletal/orthopedic symptoms. he needs to see a chiropractor. the chiropractor can decide whether he needs an mri or a neuro consult.
