Went to McDs this morning and was in line behind a woman who was taking a very long time ordering. I moved a little closer and learned the delay was because the customer had a fistful of coupons and was arguing with the clerk about using them on different items.
Clerk: That coupon is for a Sausage McMuffin, you can't use it on a Sausage McMuffin WITH EGG.
Customer: Yeah, just charge me for the egg and have them put it on the sandwich.
Then the customer pushed again on another coupon (to use it on a slightly different item). At this point the clerk gave up and said she would need to get the manager.
Manager comes over and immediately says the coupons can only be used on the exact item printed on the coupon. The customer insists the manager is wrong and there is flexibility. Manager says no. Customer says "I work at a McDonalds and we do that all the time."
Manager says: You work at a McDonalds?
Customer (almost shouting): YES I DO, that's why I'm saying you can be flexible.
Manager: You aren't allowed to use any coupons. You could have taken them right out of the register. (To clerk) Don't take any coupons from her.
Oops.
