my friends computer, in manhattan, is having issues! there are too many wireless networks out there!! problem is the XP keeps tryign to connect from one network to the other, so she gets disconnected every 2 seconds. she's pushed her own network up the list in the available networks, and even tried removing the other networks from mthe list.

how to tell xp to connect to just ONE wireless network and forget abotu the others?!

MAC filtering + 128-bit WEP key then configure the client to use that WEP key. That should more or less force her network and secure it from other people (as secure as it can get anyway).

It's a rough fix, but if you wait till you get a connection to her network (and lease your IP), disable Window's management of Wireless networks.

The only downside is that you'll have to do this each time you reboot.

Turn off the wireless discovery service, and set up the wireless manually. This will prevent the computer from trying to connect to all the other networks.

they all have WEP enabled. so it disconnects from HER router, tries to connect to the other one, realizes its wep enabled, and switches back to hers. and over and over and over.
