too many radeon 9xxx i've lost track of it..

if anyone can list those in order of power.. that'd be great

i know 8500 is close to ati 9000 .. but that's the last thing i remember.

what are those 9200 9250 9500 9550 .. not to mention SE !!!

9800Pro being the greatest and 9000 being the weakest. Higher the number the better the card i guess ;\

well im not sure about the 9550

and, a 9200SE may be weaker than the regular 9100
 
Also with the letters on the end, it goes like

Generally the numbers are pretty straightforward for ranking, but when you start adding in the SE and and Pro and the XT things get really confusing.

The ones that I think are good buys at the moment for different budgets are

9550
9600pro
9800pro

but actually I'd rather get an AGP 6600gt for $158 after rebate than the ~$140 9800pro.
 
If two cards perform within 10% of each other, they are considered equal.

There is no such thing as a 9550 XT. The 9500 (Pro) will slaughter the budget oriented 9550 cards. The best ones are usually the 9800 Pro/XT models at the high end, the 9600 Pro/XTs at the mid end, and I'm unsure about the low end. It gets really muddy in the lower middle to low end segment.
 
Think of it this way - a higher 9NNN number is better. If there are suffix letters (e.g. 9600Pro) then SE is worse then no suffix, while Pro is better, and XT is the best (9800SE < 9800 < 9800Pro < 9800XT). Sometimes a higher numbered SE could be slower then a lower number XT (e.g. 9600XT > 9800SE). Also sometimes they create a new number for a new revision, even though it's very similar to the performance of previous revision, for example 9800 replaced 9700pro, and has identical performance.

Not quite... the 9250 is a 9200 with a core clock of 240mhz instead of 250mhz, and is therfore slower. So, swap that 9250+9200. 🙂
 
I don't think the 9100 is that low. It is the same thing as an 8500 and those were faster than the 9200 series which is really only a 9000 but with 8x AGP support. I think its

Well, if my choice was between a <$100 9500p/9600p, a $100-150 BBATI 9700p/9800p, or a $158 (after rebate) XFX (piece of crap) 6600GT, I'd say the cheapest 9700p/9800p would be the way to go, ATI will still warranty those cards.

All variations of the 8500 were crappier. The 9100 was just a short lived rehash of the 9000. It was soon replaced by the 9200. Same crappy performance, different number.
 
9500pro beats the 9600 and is about equal with the 9600XT.

96xx sucked imo because the 9500p was better w/ aa due to more pipelines

Stay away from SE.
