Recently got my new rig up and running:

Athlon XP 2100+ on an Asus A7S333. It's currently reading 57C just surfing the net and playing MP3s.

Question is, should I upgrade my cooling?
 
I would be a little concerned with that. How many case fans do you have? What HSF do you have on your CPU?

*Edit* Perhaps your BIOS is reading the CPU temp wrong?

well that heatsink looks wimpy, AND WHY DONT YOU HAVE CASE FANS??!!! all that hot air is just hanging around your parts, that certanetely isnt helping you any
 
After your computer has been running for 15 minutes, take off the case. Does the inside feel warm? Does the metal of your heatsink feel warm? Hot? If it feels cold, bad sign. If it's warm, good sign. Hot, somewhat good sign.
 
Heatsink is warm. I'll go grab a fan or two tomorrow.

Problem - Don't have any connectors left on my power supply, but I do have 2 fan connections on my mobo that aren't in use. Any major difference between 3-pin and 4-pin fans (preformancewise)?

I guess I could also return this power supply and get a better one. I've taken the side off the case and the temp is down to about 47C. All suggestions are welcome! Consider this your system to cool 😉

Yes your shop "should" have them. The special thing about them is they have three pins (rather than molex, that uses two). The extra pin is used to give the MoBo the fan speed and temp(on good fans).

It never hurts to run it open (unless little fingers, or big ones, or feet or anything else of the sort enters the case).

DUDE! That CPU cooler is only rated for a 900 MHz Tbird (Linkage)!!! Definately swap that cooler off that XP2100+!! :Q

Also, upgrade your power supply and add a case fan. Go for a decent power supply such as Antec, Enermax etc. You should be able to cool that thing down for under $100, about the price of replacing the CPU if it should burn up.
