Okies guys just put my ASUS A7V w/900 mhz in a new Antec Midtower w/300w psu. According to my asus probe my temps are as follows.......

42-49 C - CPU
25-33 C - MB

Now.....I installed my old Alpha (socket A) heatsink on here...however it looks like its only spinning at 3800 RPMS roughly? Could this be the cause to my CPU getting too hot? I have done everything made sure air flow is A OK I have 2 80mm case fans inside the case along with my standard PSU fan.....but any other suggestions?

PS I do have heatsink compound on the heatsink though.....so thanks in advance guys!

PS, should I still get a new HSF? Like maybe the GlobalwinFOP38? Or any other suggestions? Is 3300 rpms too low for a cpu fan? Cuz my alpha is running @ 3000 rpms roughly...

I don't think you need a new fan... is your alpha one with copper in the base? Does it have a socket-a compliant clip?

You could always upgrade fans for your alpha.

Im honeslty not sure.....looks copper to me......Im not even sure of the model I just remember its an alhpa......yeah it has to be socket a compliant......one side is a nice little clip which can be easily used by the hand....the other side is more of the u shaped........going right on......now its only 1 clip per side.....but I believe so...but as for model not sure...... it says DC PICO ACE 25 on the front of it...if that helps?

yo,

I have the Alpha PEP66 on my 900 and my ASUS probe readings are as follows with BIOS 1004

38 C CPU -- pretty constant even under a load of UT and other apps in the background
31 C MB -- also pretty constant

Meanwhile, my CPU fan sits at around 5000 RPM.

I think you might consider replacing the fan as Mike suggested and it couldn't hurt to use some Arctic Silver theraml compound if you're not already
