High temps are pretty normal with C2Ds as they're being measured via a digital sensor.

It's unlikely you'll be able to run under 60C Orthos load overclocked unless you're on some form of water or better.

You wouldn't want to see my load temps ;)

Let's just say that the real temperature you want to stay below is 80C.
Not 60C, since that doesn't happen unless ambient temps are very low.

Do you mind letting us know what your idle/load temps are (read by Speedfan/Asusprobe and TAT) at 3.5GHz? My E6600 using 1.5V in BIOS (1.45V AsusProbe under 100% load due to Vdroop) idles around 36C and peaks at 64C (sometimes 65-66C for a brief time) under Orthos load after a few hours, according to AsusProbe/Speedfan. TAT reports Core1/2 at 52-54C usually I believe. Never higher than 54. I'm comfortable with the temps, but Orthos seems to crash after 7-8 hours (Blend). I'm trying to figure out if I need more voltage (hopefully not) or if it's memory timings, NB overheating etc.

Thanks n7.

You want my advice? i managed to find out why orthos would crash after 6-7 hours.

The cpu would overheat and throttle would cause either a shutdown, or your NB would get extremely hot, and therefore system would become unstable.

Anyhow, i managed to pass the 7 hour mark with awesome temps, after i realized my NB mount was skewed slightly.

So im pointing fingers at your NB cooling right now.

Thanks aigomorla, I'll spend some time over the weekend playing around and see if I can get it stable for longer Orthos runs. Although I'm happy with stability now as it never fails in gaming/desktop use.
