Edmunds lists 1991 Firebird as $3-5k USD! That is $5-9k CDN! This firebird I saw today was $4000 in our currency.

not sure what year. Early 90s tho, for sure. Black. Tinted windows (old crappy gone-purple tint). V8. T-top. Standard trans. Nearly perfect exterior condition. Standard dual exhaust (not aftermarket/riced thankfully). Nice wheels, not over or undersized. Interior was in very nice condition. The dash wasn't all messed up, the seats were nice looked comfortable (didn't get to test it out, dude wasn't home), seats weren't ripped up. Everything looked good and untouched inside. not all messed up like a lot of cams/fbirds I see!

The guy's wife said they're asking $4k. I figured, I could offer cash payment and get them to lower the price significantly. But then I looked up the specs on early 90s firebirds and wtf... they're 4-5-6-7 grand AMERICAN? How's this one only $4k cdn? Hopefully,. HOPEFULLY it's just a really good deal - lots of stupid people seem to live in that area - but maybe there's something critically wrong with the car?

In any case I would want to check it out again - test drive it, etc. But ... any experts out there... any opinions to offer, any tips, clues hints anything? Thx.

Update: It turned out to be a late 80s model, not a 90s.

Update 2:: Checked out another Trans Am today! Check post below

Well, if the price is good, be wary of several things when purchasing a used car. Take a mechanic friend with you, and see if he can find anything wrong. When my brother bought his 93' Trans-Am for $5k, my dad (whom is a very good mechanic) went with him and checked the car out before purchasing. Also check the car reports for any damage/accidents/what not.

Goodluck with your purchase

You should wait till you talk to the guy. When I was searching for a car for a friend, couple of people didn?t give me the right info (wife, girl friend etc...).

Thanks for your input. I go car shopping with my friend, who has more experience with that. Before purchasing a car, I would have it inspected for the big defects known to those cars. One of the Camaros we checked out was obviously in an accident, but it looked like they tried their best to cover it up.

Also, a lot of the time these cars start rusting in specific places... underneath the car, maybe? The early 90s firebird had very minimal rust (none underneath) which I liked.

Yeah I know. The guy wasn't there so we got whatever info we could from the wife. I obviously will talk to the guy when I get the chance, or I'll call and get more info. I will want to have it checked out more thoroughly, test drive it myself, have it inspected, etc. If I can get it for $3k cdn, or even $3500, I think it'd be worth it...

I just checked out some more cars today. Saw a sweet Trans Am! 1985, red (REALLY good paint looked new), T-TOP, automatic - 4 barrel 350 carb. engine (said it had 210ish hp).. everything looks in near-perfect condition. He was only asking $3400cdn! I'm definitely going back to see that one again. :D I even got to test drive it. :D

....... :D
