Too bad I can't watch all TV series this way

I missed out on the whole Lost thing when it first started. I was going to buy the first season but my wife suggested just renting it which really was the smart thing to do. After lots of procrastination I finally joined Netflix when I got a 30 day freebie and finally started watching the first season. Made it through the entire first season and disk 1 of season 2 and I have to say I really like it so far. The great thing is that I am getting instant gratification since I don't have to deal with hiatuses and cliffhangers until I get to the end of whatever they have on DVD to date.

Good. Then they'll end it sooner so we can actually figure out what the hell is going on.

yeah, that's how I first saw Lost, and ever since I go nuts trying to watch them as they air.

That's the part I dread. I'll probably be done with the first 3 seasons way before the new episodes start.

I do watch all tv series that way now. It started with using my dvr to record BSG. Then I got the whole first season of 24. After that I was completely hooked on the idea of not having to wait a week to find the resolution to cliffhangers, and it's about the only way i'll watch a show now.

That's what I'm going to do for every series but Lost. It was really nice watching Heros back-to-back, whenever I felt like it.

That's how I watched 24 seasons 1-2, House MD seasons 1-2 and My Name Is Earl season 1.

No commercials, no waiting a week for the next episode, great picture and sound (better than overcompressed SD cable), ready to watch exactly when I want to without messing with a DVR.

I  Netflix.

I like torrenting them and the using my Xvid dvd player. It upcoverts it to almost like real DVD; and the sound is also great!

yay for back-to-back showing watching on gray legal terms!

Netflix is good, but we use Blockbuster Online and I think it's a lot better. They have about the same selection of movies, and block buster is cheaper if you do 8 at a time, but then again, who really has the time to watch 8 movies at a time? Anyway, the upside of Blockbuster is you can turn your movies into any one of their stores now and get a movie right then, also you get free movie and game rental coupons for the store.

well, eventually you'll catchup with the rest of Lost (between season 3 and 4?) and have to wait like everyone else.

This is how MANY people are now watching TV, especially serialized shows and its impacting the overall ratings and demographics dramatically. TV shows come out on DVD months after the season wraps and MANY people just sit and wait until the DVDs arrive so they can watch them at their own pace and leisure (fast and slow).

and yes mundane who doesn't <3 their XBMC. A few XBMCs, coupled with a centralized home file server, best invention ever

if the xbmc could stream live tv it would be perfect, but alas.

You know what I don't like about Lost? The fact that there's a small group of my friends that watch it and are overly obsessed to the point where it's annoying whenever it becomes the topic of conversation. They get all dramatic about it. It's turned me off from the show for a while now, because I did watch a few episodes the first season and liked it.

When you start swearing by a show and spend your time with friends coming up with all these theories about things, that's just stupid. It happened again last night and a really good friend of mine started saying how it was the best show ever on tv. Give me a fucking break.

I rented and watched all 3 seasons of Lost over a few weeks in December. A very cleverly made series. I'm not sure I'll bother trying to watch season 4 when it airs. It's too easy to miss an episode and it's definitely a show you need to see in order. I ended up ordering seasons 1 & 2 on DVD. I also just finished watching the three seasons of the TV show Roswell which turned out to be pretty good.

Since I don't get Showtime that's how I did the first three seasons of Weeds and the first two of Dexter.
