From the little research I've done (WebMD), I think I might have Tonsillitis.

Towards the end of last week, I had a fever of ~102. I'm a 24 year old male, so I didn't think anything serious. It was accompanied by a mild sore throat, runny nose, and headache.

Well, I'm done with the fever and the headache, but I noticed a few different symptoms. Now, my throat hurts a little more, and I noticed some white-ish substance on the spot where my tonsil is on one side. I now have some lymph node swelling on that side of my neck as well. Of course, the spot where the white-ish substance looks a little more swollen than the same spot on the other side of my neck.

Does that sound like Tonsillitis? Anyone ever had it before? Any home remedies to speed up the healing process?

By the way, here is a crappy pic of the inside of my mouth, with the area circled that looks wierd.

*Update*

I went to the doctor. He took a throat culture and come to find out, I have strep throat. Go me.

Asked if I wanted 10 days of oral antibiotics, or a single shot. I took the shot. It was penicillin. Hopefully it will be cleared up in a couple of days.

I had something very similar happen to me. Had a fever, sore throat, runny nose, and it all went away, except the sore throat. Just before I went to see a doctor, I found a home remedy on the 'net and gave it a try. It worked.

I put a couple table spoons of cayenne pepper in a glass of relatively warm water and gargled. I even drank a little of it. I did that twice a day for two days, and my throat was fine.

If that doesn't work, go see a doctor.

cayenne pepper? ugh. There's got to be something better than that. I don't want to kill the rest of my mouth. :D

One remedy I saw was to use salt water to gargle. I could probably do that.

Its not nearly as bad as you think. At least give it a shot.

Yea that sounds like tonsilitis, the white patches on the tonsils are what i had, first i had it on 1 tonsil, then that cleared up and the other had it. In the end i had to go on antibiotics as it was really bad..

Well after about a week after the shot, it's just about all cleared up now. I really felt a difference later the same day. It didn't hurt as much to swallow. The next day, it didn't hurt at all. My tonsils are just about fully healed up.
