I wish they'd have integrated SATA and left the SoundStorm rather than mess with Gb the NF2. :(

Megatomic thx!....I was going to download the IDE and audio drivers until I read,

This is a stand-alone beta package containing audio drivers only. This package should be installed over an existing successful install of the Unified Driver Package (UDP) containing all nForce driver components.

I`ll wait for official set ;).

Ahhh, go for it Mem, the drivers are very good. The audio drivers aren't really beta, Microsoft posted them on Windows Update over a week ago. They are good. The mixer even works. :)

The IDE drivers really are beta but they are just fine on my computer. But in all honesty the new official UDP should be out really soon. If your stuff works now waiting is not a bad idea.

Hehe... Megatomic I`ll wait,I never use beta drivers period,it`s a principle of mine, besides the official ones I`m using now are working fine, remember "patience is a virtue" ;).

I will say beta drivers are worth trying if you have problems with the official set, however I`ve always been lucky in that department.

While not perfect these drivers are very good, they get my thumb's up for what little that's worth.

Hopefully NV will release their fully updated UDP next week. These drivers seem to be production quality to me.

They added a speed tester in the IDE driver. Go into Device Manager and open up the nForce2 ATA Controller and then pick the channel your drive is on. Very cool indeed.

I tested that feature Wednesday night, test results from the in-driver speed tester roughly match HD Tach 2.70. For what that's worth... :p

Great thread! Thanks, Megatomic! :cool::beer:

I'm currently having zero probs w/the NF2 Unified 3.13. I always upgrade when the new complete Unified driver hits the street, though.

Alrighty then... I felt lucky and took a shot with the IDE driver. It crashed W2K like a brick so it looks like the second mouse will get the cheese this time. I've got a dual boot so I'm on WinXP now and will straighten it out tomorrow.

That's wierd, I've never had a problem with any of the Nvidia IDE drivers on my Asus or Abit boards, but I've read about how "horrible" they are so I'll consider myself lucky :).

I installed the update and had problems with the on-board NIC (very low connection speed) and the SW-IDE drivers (ATI All-in-Wonder MM software configuration tool would not detect my drives as DMA enabled when they were). I reinstalled older Ethernet and IDE drivers (choosing NOT to install the SW-IDE driver) and everything works well now. The new audio and mixer drivers are great and also work well.

I'm back... no harm done but I'm not going to jack with the updates again for a while. It's running fine.

I'm sorry to hear about you guys having problems with the drivers. I'm not sure why it happened for you guys but I haven't had any problems with them.

jrenna, it's a well known fact that the later Ethernet drivers are no good, I still use the ones from the 2.45 UDP. As for the UDMA issue, I think that must be an ATI issue. My Leadtek TV card has no problem with the SW-IDE drivers though nowhere I've looked shows the DMA mode of my system's drives...

Texun, I'm not sure what to say about the IDE driver crashing your system. I've had previous versions of the SW-IDE driver cause my drives' heads to slam rather than gently park but that was the SW-IDE driver that came with the 2.45 UDP. The SW-IDE driver in the 3.13 UDP and the new 4.12 works very well for me, but I only use WinXP Pro so that might be the difference.

Hopefully the new UDP will have these issues fixed for you guys, I'm eagerly anticipating them myself. :)

The odd thing is that over the years I got used to drivers for VIA 4 in1's as well as nVidia cards. I got sloppy using their upgraded drivers and even stopped reading the "what-if" statement in their latest releases. I just downloaded, installed over the current and rebooted - no problem at all. Now that I have an Nforce board and an ATI card I have reached a point where I am learning to leave it the hell alone if it's not broke.

Here's a bump to put this back on top since I missed it a couple days ago. Nice find, I'll give these a try in a bit.

These seem good, at least based on my....full two minutes with them now. The new mixer looks nice - finally supports custom presets.

I've been stress testing all this new code for 6 days now, I've had no issues with any of it yet. The new UDP ought to be easy to roll out considering the quality of the beta drivers.
