Tons of hot deals @Microcenter b+m
hp 6MP camera $60, 2gb sd flash $10, 2gb usb flash $9, more.

The 2gb sd flash $10 is, I guess A-Data Speedy 2GB Secure Digital Memory Card here, but it is available online.

I don't find any 2gb usb flash drive for $9 on the site.

The HP camera is PhotoSmart M547.

Are these deals from a local ad? An email?

But Reseller Ratings has been a staple of the AT forums for years.
Who are we to turn to for vendor evaluations?

You can use ResellerRatings as a general guide, but remember that it's a self-selected group of complainers. Look around and see how many good reviews you can find, especially for places where you know you've had good experiences. I doubt you'll find many at all. I personally just ignore that site since I find it fairly useless. Not to mention, a lot of the complaints/negative reviews don't have any merit ("I ordered this item, they shipped it, I found it cheaper somewhere else, now they want to charge me a restocking fee and charge me for shipping. They suck!").

Oh, and thanks OP! I'll be near a Microcenter this afternoon, so I'll be sure to stop in.

There is Bizrate
and
Pricegrabber

One thing I can say about Microcenter is that their employees actually know something about what they're selling. They're not experts, and it may just be good training, but they're a far cry from Best Buy monkeys.

Wish I was home to take advantage of the deals. Don't have one around my campus. 🙁

Last month I stopped into the one in Cambridge and to my shock the computer parts guys were pretty knowledgeable. I got in a long debate about overclocking. It was so enjoyable that despite not really needing to upgrade my system yet I bought a Q6600 just to see how far I could take it. I've heard lots of negative things about high pressure sales tactics but my experience was so good I bought a processor I didn't need. I also got it stably to 4.1 GHz. 🙂

I don't know how representative my experience was but I'll definitely go back.

Some of the deals were on microcenter branded flash stuff they had in little bins in the checkout line. CF and SD and SDHC and flash usb drives of all sizes for crazy cheap. Not sure if those will show up online.

I've recently gone to microcenter a couple of times. Bought an 8800GT from them. TBH, they seem pretty knowledgeable. I'd buy from them again.

Just wish they had a store a little closer to Boulder,or Westminster.

Picked up a couple SDHC cards for a decent price.

They had this for 27.99 that included a SDHC reader. Adata 8GB with SDHC reader

They also had the 4GB SDHC with reader for 17.99 here 4GB SDHC with SDHC reader

These appear to be also available for online purchases. Standard shipping is 5.99 for one and 6.98 for two. It's paying a little less and getting the reader for free.

It seems to be a good price as Newegg charges 29.99 + 5.99 shipping just for the 8GB card here

They don't carry the same 4GB SDHC card unless this may be it for 16.09 plus 5.99 shipping here

That's why you read the actual reviews. If they are just a bunch of rants then you can probably dismiss them. However if a large portion of reviews say the same thing such as "tried bait and switch" or "placed an order, but got email item was out of stock" then those are probably worth listening to.

Microcenter is good for OEM stuff. They used to have an awesome open box section. the section used to be half the size of the store. Those days are forever gone now. Athlon XP mobo for $20. What a steal! Sigh...I miss thise days.

I'd say those are about right, I've had many horrible purchase at the b&m stores, they provide little if any support and only inflate the prices. Microcenter is better than the others, some of the staff does have a clue, some of them are rip off artists. The store does rely heavily on mail in rebates that will be denied more often than not.

Expect your MIR to be denied, they are worse than tigerdirect. I buy there only to have an item in hand rather than a mailorder

I'm out over $400, the salesman even did most of the work on the rebate, filled out everything, photocopied recepits and the UPC for me. I cannot fault the service at the store, rebate center on the other had is a complete rip off. Until I have the $400 in my hand they are thieves.
