Tonight's Debate; What Will It Take For You Fence Sitters To Decide?

NO! I don't need to hear from chess9, Red Dawn, Russ and the rest. I gotta know what you undecided voters are looking for. What the heck goes through your minds during this debate? What will make the difference?

If you're a one issue voter, like abortion, but could still be swayed by the rest of the issues, pipe up.

Notice I'm not making this into a poll. I just would like to hear the thought process of the average soccer mom or undecided voter of any kind. Do the clothes they wear tonight have any bearing? If one or the other blinks or stutters too much is that a serious minus? If one is too aggressive or too passive, is that what you want to see?

You folks mystify me. The issues are out there and have been available for quite a while. How much do they weigh in your choice? What does float your boat?

I'm having a hard time deciding between the two, since I like Bush's tax plan and I like Gore's social policies. If Gore can make some concessions on tax issues, that would make a difference, or if Bush could illustrate his position on some social issues in a new light.

Ornery,

This is a good question. Even if Gore and Bush suddenly both started speaking the libertarian mantra, I would still not vote for either. Whycome? In Gore's case, he's still too untrustworthy and far, far too political just like his boss. Too many lies, too many lies. In Bush's case, apart from questions about his worthiness for the job, he's still a puppet for radical right-wing extremus.

This would also be true even if we had a Cheney/Censorman race. But these debates are designed to pull in the undecided vote, you're right about that. For the rest of us, the debates simply reaffirm what we already know.

Just a reminder folks, you do have other candidates out there. Here's a Good List. Sites has neato-keen links to boot.

Thanks for the reply Raspewtin and thanks to the rest of you numb nuts for bumping this up :p

Please go into the "some social issues" a little more. Which ones?

How does Social Security privatization strike you? I just saw a commercial this evening showing a Chilean baby and American baby playing together. It said that the Chilean baby would have 10% of his money invested. The American baby would have 12% taken. When they retire, the Chilean baby would recieve his full pay, the American would be lucky to get half... he started crying :(

I'm gonna listen real hard and vote for the one with the best command of the facts, seems the smartest, and has a flare for telling a good, illustrative and exagerated story. I won't want to hear anything about change cause things are good as is. I will reject anyone of them that claims he has character, because you can't have any character and run the other guy down. I will vote for the guy who wants to reduce the debt, not refund billions to the top 1%. I don't need the money back, I want it to go to the kids of tomorrow. After the debate, I'll let you know who's the best choice. You're welcome.

here's what I want

Pro SS privitization
Pro Choice
Any eduacation plan besides Bush's
Pro reduced welfare spending
Pro tax cuts that help the the majority (25k-100k range)
somebody with a fsuking backbone that speaks thier mind and has the balls to get something done - unfortunately neither of these yahoo's have that virtue

Dammit - no wonder I like the libertarian view - NOT liberal

Yikes, 5 more minutes!

Damn, I can't believe Hippy is on the fence. Not 100% which way he'd vote, but I'd think his mind was made up.

Moonbeam would vote for Gore even if he was the one that lead Paula Jones to Clinton's office. Your "ideals" seem so misplaced with that crew! :disgust:

Oops, showtime!

vi_edit,

Exactly. Where's a voice telling us what's wrong with big government? Who's mentioning the programs that aren't working? Where's the talk against government's intruision into our lives?

Why is this such a friggen snooze? Ugh.

I don't know if I want to hear numbers or not. I'd love to sort out where tax cuts are really going, but that could end up boring too.

What do you want to hear? ZZZZZzzzzzzz...

Paulson,

You would rather just sit this one out if you had the choice? Hmmmmm....

WTF OTHER CHOICE DO YOU HAVE? It's gonna be another 4 YEARS BEFORE YOU CAN VOTE AT ALL. DUH. Somehow, I'm thinking you WILL be sitting this one out on election day.

As it happens, Ornery, I didn't vote for Clinton. Why? I didn't like his adultry. He didn't live up to my 'ideals'. Gore, on the other hand, seems to really love his wife. Bush, on the other hand, will appoint justices that think they, and not women, should decide on women's reproductive freedom. Then we can go back to the good old days of the coat hanger. Becides, I want government action on the environment, mass transit, energy efficient cars, and alternative energy research. I want the military and the country to be oil independent. I want Goregantuan government for titanic ideals. I want to wait in line for health care like the Canadians instead of in the cold. Hungry kids, no medical insurance and all the moaning about TAXES TAXES, MY MONEY BACK.
