I dunno, according to the podcast for Maelstrom Moore says that originally they were going to make the episode about moving the story to Earth along thru her. But they couldn't make it work so they just said 'let's just fu<kin' kill off Starbuck.' When they called up Sackhoff to sell it to her, they say she wasnt too happy.

Hmm... I haven't seen the podcast. I do know that she just finished working on a feature-length movie (albeit a B one it looks like). I admit that wouldn't surprise me though... they really had already written the Starbuck character into a wall with nowhere to go but to kill her off. So either way I don't feel good about the writing direction the show has taken.

That sux big time. I just finished watching again seasons 1 to 2.5 to keep me abreast of the present story line and they decide to mess it up.

You start seeing it in the 2nd season, like in the episode "Sacrifice" where they killed off Billy Keikeya because the actor who played him, Paul Campbell, procrastinated on signing a long-term contract with the show.
Sure, he was a minor character, but when you look at the writing and character changes stemming from that single incident, IMO you can see that as the point where it really all started to fall apart.

edit: take a look at how many episodes since then have revolved almost entirely around killing off a single character. Last night they killed off Starbuck. 4 weeks ago they killed off D'Anna. 2 eps before that they killed off Kat. And so forth.
Moore's claim to fame with BSG is when he said that the Star Trek series he came from lied to the audiences with their lack of realistic continuity (how many times was the Voyager bridge destroyed to always look brand new the next episode?). I would ask him now how well those Star Trek series would have done if characters had been leaving almost every episode.

How long till they kill off Baltar? I mean he should have been ejected out of a viper launch bay already. Clean and quite. No need for a trial.

Or how about the president? I mean gees she's annoying. Besides, when was there ever an election after leaving the coloney? How is She still the president?
 
I agree with Vic. Ever since Billy died we have seen more of Dee (unfortunately) which led to a silly love triangle thing and more complicated story lines about characters love lives...

I miss the anxiety and stress that came with season 1 and most of season 2. Cylons were actually a threat, now the look like they are the only ones that have their heads on straight.

Then again, I remember before season 3 started the creators mentioned that this season they wanted to blur the line between the good guys (Humans) and the bad guys (cylons)

Ill keep watching. BSG was the best show on TV for 2 seasons, they have my attention until the end.

You're imagining things. Moore & Co. can't keep the cast together, the show is falling apart, and the writers have been scrambling.
If you're looking for blame, I put it squarely on the producers. For one thing, Moore has pretty much stopped writing for the show, and his writing is what initially made the show so good. The other problem is that the producers tried playing hardball with the cast and their contracts (or lack of, as the case may have been) a couple of years ago and the whole thing blew up in their faces. It began with supporting cast members getting killed off but now it's regulars. And you can just see it with the decline in the acting quality this season. Morale on the set is in the toilet. The mood is that everyone is going to lose their jobs. Some are still milking it, while others (like Katee Sackhoff) are getting out while they can.
I'm really bummed about it. This WAS, at one point, the best show EVER on television.

It gets even worse.

HBO is canceling Rome, The Soprano's and The Wire this year.
With the loss of SG-1 on Sci-fi and the "Slit your writs and END IT ALREADY" downward spiral of BSG there isn't anything left to watch.

If it wasn't for the history channel I would have gotten rid of cable already.

Ouch, good point. I forgot Rome was ending this year.🙁 At least Doctor Who starts up again at the end of this month.😀
 
I didn't think they made human form Cylons 25 years ago.

She is going to be appearing on the show in the future, maybe just in flashbacks.

So either she ejected and Leoben Conoy picked her up in the heavy raider or the Cylon Doc did something to her back on Caprica so her soul will resurrect in a cloned Cylon body.

During her waking dream she says ?You?re not Leoben are you?? and he says no he is not. So what was he, Death? Did she dream of making love to Death? Kinky.

All and all it was much worse than the Denise Crosby/Tasha Yar farewell episode of Star Trek TNG.

Wow - Eddie Olmos (Admiral Adama) smashing his model ship was not scripted - and it was a genuine museum quality piece they were renting, which Olmos did not know. Moore: "*laughing* This was hundreds of thousands of dollars! Thank God it was insured."

in fairness, lucy lawless leaving/dying was pretty much planned from the get go. I remember reading an article over the summer about how one cylon this season was going to do something that warranted the other cylon's putting the entire model series on ice and I don't know that she's ever been anything other than a guest star.
 
terrible episode. I have to agree with everyone that the show has definitely gone down the gutter. This season is not even close to the quality of the show in the first two seasons.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but Katee's already said in several interviews that Starbuck is indeed a Cylon. Also, the producers strongly hinted that she's not gone for good.

I suppose it's also possible that the Starbuck that left New Caprica wasn't the real Starbuck. Or even further back, she could have been duplicated at The Farm.
