Chappelle may have been an ass, but I think that his character was a 'good' character in that it suited the series very well. The actor played an 'ass' pretty good and it added just another layer of tension for the show.

Holy hell, that was a good episode. I personally did not like the character of Chappelle until the last episode where he okayed the use of the pills for the people in the hotel. I think he went out like a man, and in the end kept his word in that he would not try to flee with Jack's gun. I personally believe this to be one of the best episodes of any season, because it was the most emotionally provocative.

i think the most emotional episode (not including those from season 1 cuz i missed it) was the episode where jack is flying the plane into the desert and he's talking to kim on the phone... man, that was real tear-jerker...

anyway...

i watched the episode tonight with... 5 other people and our jaws dropped when jack shot ryan..

we also like to watch alias and said nothing like this would EVER happen in that show...

hence why 24 > alias 🙂

also: anyone wonder why michelle ain't showing any signs of symptoms yet? Think she'll be one of the 10% or so that survive??? She's such a great character... i'd hate to see her leave!!!

I think it was mentioned that she worked sarin gas or anthrax or some other threat in the past, maybe it gives her immunity.

In any other show, she'd find a miraculous way to survive.

Good episode! 🙂

Jack has been messing with his own people so much by now that he's probably having trouble keeping track of who he's supposed to shoot next. I predict he'll put one right through Kim's brain next episode.

One can only hope exp! 😀

Alias is more episodic in that something always closes out an episode. You have these rare climatic scenes (like this shooting, not like what-will-happen-next) in 24 while it happens so often in Alias... you can't compare the 2. Both are great shows, and I happen to think Alias is better written as a show.

I dunno, 24 always seems to close out the shows with a bang. This time literally...

Wow.. I truly did not expect to see it go down like that.

My question is, why did he have to shoot him execution style at the trainyard ? Couldn't he have just given him one of the magic CTU death pills ? Or injection or something more humane than a bullet to the brain

This was episode #18 for those of you still "searching" for it. Its unfortunate that *COUGHsupernovaCOUGH* had to have server problems this week, making it harder for the many people who missed it (and I know there were many, due to the odd time and all) to catch it.

That said, there was at least one trrnt website which should have it available...

Anyways, this was an excellent ep. If they give awards for individual TV eps, i think this one should win something! Great way of killing off Chappelle's character (same treatment as Mason, actually!). Oh well, we still got him in the Sopranos.

Some time ago (a month back) Kiefer was on a talk show saying something like "we are more proud of the next 7 episodes than anything else we've made before" - now I see what he was talking about.

With regards to the Alias vs. 24 comparison: err, isn't Alias considered more of a sci-fi show? different genre, etc.
