Well here I am on cue, to whet your appetite for another 24 episode that starts in (looks at watch) about 1 hour 2minutes. If you've been watching the last 3 or 4 episodes intently, YOU MUST WATCH IT. Actually I would say everyone should watch it but if for some reason you missed the last 5 or 6 and have no way of getting caught up, just read my spoilers below. 😀
Ok, I am going to press ENTER *20 times* and then start spoiling. Don't say i didn't warn you.
It's all over! Well, it certainly seems that way but I won't say what happens in the last 5 minutes. It's a deadly game of cat and mouse between Bauer and Gaines, but somewhere along the way Gaines loses his sniper rifle (anyone know what model/brand that is?) and gets shot in the hand by Bauer's wonderful suppressed 9mm (?) which can fire long distances (!). Bauer offers Gaines a way out -- it looks like he's ready to forgive him, if he comes peacefully. But Gaines knows that "the people I work for" would find him and kill him. Gaines forces Bauer to take him out. Bauer's got some pretty cool moves, BTW, anyone if that is legitimate police/Fed Agent combat maneouvres?
Somewhere along the way Rick panics and takes off. He finds a bus halt (?) and boards a bus but of course no-one looks at him twice for having so much blood on himself (!). Also the "Alan York" guy realizes that the bad guys are losing after the Jap gets killed and he hears the sound of CTU heli's approaching so he takes off (smart guy).
CTU commando's *finally* arrive (woohoo!) but of course everything is all over by then. They rescue the happy family and take em home in the helicopter.
Some interesting highlights in the Palmer sub-plot; Palmer decides not to take the story about Farragamo's "killing" to the D.A. because "the people that Carl works for" won't be very happy, and they've already planted evidence at the fire site which makes Keith seem like the arsonist. Sneaky b@stards! Also Palmer decides to warn Maureen Kingsley that her life may be in danger, but "those guys" have already gotten to her. She ain't dead, but she's already quit her job and has dropped everything to do with the "story".
The CTU Headquarters subplot was pretty boring this time around, but we see much more of a Belgrade Connection. <insert scary music here>.
All in all, a great ep and a good conclusion to the first chapter of the story (if one can call it that; perhaps we are on the second or third chapter by now).
And of course you can't miss the last 5 minutes because "there's a new king in town"! 😉
