Actually, you can also see Uranus with binoculars, as long as your eyes are already dark-adapted. I was able to see Uranus with binoculars last night before looking through the telescope.

I remember seeing Saturn and Jupiter as a kid with a telescope. Very impressive. Never seen Uranus though.
