Newegg has the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition 3.5" GPS Navigation for $150 shipped which seems like a great price for a gps unit.

Other unit i'm looking at is the Garmin Nuvi 350 gps that can be had for $298 at walmart.

Not impressed with the other brands out there and want to stay under $300. anyone own either of these.which seem to be the best selling units.

How about splitting the difference. :)

What about the Garmin Nuvi 200W which is available for as low as $215 (though currently backordered)?

The TomTom One is a nice little unit for $150. Just remember the Nuvi 350 is a lot more of a unit with an mp3 player and speaking the street names.

If you got the for TomTom One just make sure you don't have a headed windshield, between those two units only the Nuvi has a connector for an external antenna.

The MapShare in the TomTom is kinda interesting, I've already fiixed a couple of POIs and one street name.

I've only had my TomTom One for a week so far, but it seems pretty good. I usually use my Garmin 60Cx, which I've had a while now.

Seems you are comparing Apple to Orange here. ( yes, I have own and test both units before )

1. TT1-3 (entry level from TT) has no room, no sd slot, for update, nor upgrade to its 1.4GB NA map. (w/ full poi)
2. TT1-3 is slim but it can not catagorized as "portable", since its battery wouldn't last more than 100 min.
3. TT1-3 has reflective screen, not very visible during sunnyday, or try wearing sunglasses and I assure you can't see anything.
4. Nuv 350 is 2 year old. (however, screen is still little better than TT1-3)
5. Nuvi 350 using Navteq
6. Nvui 350 has TTS.
7. Nuvi 360 has mp3 and etc

For TT1-3, I wouldn't spend more than $100
For Nuvi 350, I know it is good unit, but I just don't think I want to spend that much money for something so "old".

So after all that, do you have a recommendation for the OP of what would be a much better buy?

Nuvi 200 for NON-TTS MODEL (should be less than $200)
Nuvi 260 for TTS Model ( should be around $260)

In my opinion, the TT 3rd Edition is the best one for under $300. Shoulda picked one up on Black Friday.
I think that its worth way more than $100, in response to the earlier post.

Or look at the Magellan 3225 from Costco. Bright screen, (possible 6 million POI's), TTS, and thin case. $199 online or in-store right now.

From what i read, these are the units to get:

Best sub $200 gps: Tom Tom One V3 or LE, Garmin Nuvi 200, Mio C320

Best sub $250 gps: Garmin Nuvi 200W

Best sub $300 gps: Mio C520, Garmin Nuvi 650(costco) or Nuvi 350 or Nuvi 260

Best sub $400 gps: Nuvi 360 or TomTom Go 720

right now, i'm leaning towards the 650 from costco. everyone keeps taking about how text to speech is critical, it's not, i drove 250 miles with a frend's tomtom one v3 and got there fine. don't want a gps to play mp3, audio/video files or display images.

also you don't need a a/c adapter, plug the gps into the usb port of a pc and it will charge overnight.. most important, don't leave the gps visible in your car when your not in it.. thief's don't know if you have a $99 unit or a $999 unit, they will smash a window to steal it.

someone in my area had a garmin nuvi 770 stolen and it wasn't password protected :(
