Because aluminium isn't metal?!

Not when it's just a color. I once saw a PC case box at Micro-Center labeled (on the printing on the cardboard box itself) "aluminum", for only $20. It was sealed, but the cardboard box was slightly dinged up. I thought that the low price was because it was possibly slightly-damaged stock. Imagine my surprise, when after opening it up and examing it, it was simply just a generic plastic cheapo (very cheapo) ATX case, with "aluminum"-colored plastic on the front.

So they are probably listing that to show you that it is in fact a real aluminum case, instead of an "aluminum" case, if you get what I mean.

(Kind of like some CompUSA house-brand "Gold" CD-Rs that I once bought back in the day. They actually used a silver-colored reflective layer, and had a gold-colored painted topcoat on them. I still have a small quantity of them to this day, and I use them for burning copies of music to use in the car, because that top-coat is quite thick and durable, so the CD-Rs are virtually scratch-proof. They are not, however, actual gold-reflective-layer CD-Rs, in the same way that Kodak or Mitsui gold media is.)

I didn't like the V1000. And they talk about the PS being on the bottom, great, but then the heat from the PS will rise up into the MB and video card.

I have the Antec P160WF. In the review, they complain about having only 1 fan, but the WF version (clear side) comes with both fans. I recommend the Antec P160WF.

They're too small for my taste, I like big cases

Yup, big is the only ticket especially if you have real hardware. A few weekends with the plasma cutter and TIG torch and a five drawer filing cabinet does wonders! :)

Cheers!

Agreed. Dunno why you would want ANY plastic on your case at all, considering how cheap and fragile it is and how bad is it at heat dissipation.

Lian-Li makes the outright cleanest and well built cases, but some of the new coolermaster's come close.

All those plastic colorful cases make me think of those Honda rice-rockets with a giant bolted on spoiler and a huge exhaust that makes a sh*tload of noise as the car goes absolutely nowhere.

yeah, the world of computers is definately following the world of cars. you've got one side wanting smooth, clean cut, well made, and NOT GAUDY/TACKY (the side i fall on). then the other side wants a whole case of led fans and cold cathodes and plastic that just screams "notice me!". just a reflection on the different types of personalities out there.

Agree. I like that V1000 with the upside down mobo and PS at the bottom. Give me functionality and good design. My 10 year old (might) like the funky looking stuff. I keep my rig functional and 100% rice free.

I personally think that case is terribly ugly as well. I just like a more classic styling, and if I can help not have my case look like a distorted face with buggly eyes.

I don't think that's the correct interpretation; I have an Antec P160, and they list that as just "Aluminum" in their chart, but I can assure you it's really aluminum. My guess is that they use Aluminum/Metal to indicate cases that are a mixture of Al and some other metal(usually Steel).

-air flow seems highly resricted. Where's it even come in at
-A wothless case for water cooling, becase of limted air flow where you might situate a heatercore.

Hi Zebo... Actually I searched on some German web sites for more information. The case acutally is shipping with two 120 mm blue led fans!: Link

Maybe however in the photo it looks like either a 60 or 80 in the rear of the case.

Yes, that could be. Makes perfect sense, they aren't trying to say that it's Aluminum that is a metal, but rather a combination of Aluminum and another metal.

Btw, that V1000 is incredibly sweet! Looks kinda like a G5, but better.

Typical Raidmax - all show, no go. The interior is a flash from the past. Now that Yeong Yang on the other hand...

I think we've had enough people say they think it is ugly, as well as enough posts about this case.

I think it looks nice, but that doesn't mean I want it. I have a good Antec SLK 3700AMB that I won't give up. If it has the 120mm rear fan, then that is fantastic. If it doesn't, well thats alright. Most of the people that I would build a PC for that would want that aren't going to need uber-functionality like, of all things, a removable motherboard tray because they aren't going to be planning on changing their motherboard out or most of the other things.

I know it seems crazy that some people don't just like a plain old case, but there are people that want their cases to look good, and that doesn't have to sacrifice airflow. I like mine, and when people come to my house they comment on how nice it looks, and have looks of "impressive" on their faces when they see it, but the airflow and decibel-levels are fantastic. I have a friend that owns an Alienware PC and it looks very nice, and the airflow/temps in it aren't bad (they're much better than a lot of peoples' in here are). I agree that cathodes in the case, as well as any type of windows, are crazy but the stylish plastic isn't bad. I have yet to see anyone have a case with plastic like that and have them be able to attribute it to any type of heat dissipation problems. Some people just, quite simply, have tastes different from others and they aren't necessarily kids either.

As far as cars go, my sister's new 2004 Impala SS looks very nice...I love the stylish look of it. It also is VERY functional and has great performance ;). Her old Dodge Stratus, by comparison, looked alright but was terrible towards the end of its years. Just because the car, or case, is plain looking or stylish doesn't mean it is GOING to be good or bad.
