[Tom's] New Seasonic Platinum PSUs incoming (Sept.)

UPDATED!

The new Seasonic 1000w Platinum PSU is now available for pre-order from Newegg, $240FS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...5&Tpk=seasonic

With most Silver/Gold 1000w PSUs in the $180-$200 range, getting both Seasonic quality and Platinum efficiency for slightly more is a great deal.

Just thought some folks around here would be interested: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/seasonic-psu-gold-platinum-fanless,12868.html.

Seasonic plans on introducing several 80 Plus Platinum PSUs in September, at 860w and 1000w. They are also going to be introducing some seriously high-powered Gold PSUs, up to 1250w, a range way above what Seasonic traditionally has sold. I believe the highest Seasonic-branded model up to this point has been 850w. The article also notes that Seasonic considers the 80 Plus Bronze level dead, since new components allow better efficiency.

I just got a 850W "Silver" yesterday dagnabit! :colbert: I'll be in last place!

Well I'm happy for now. Pd. $80 brand new.

Nice, especially since Seasonic usually understates their wattage ratings.

850w Seasonic > 1000w non-Seasonic 🙂

After last night, I am now a firm believer in SeaSonic. We had about 20 brown outs and 2 complete drops during the storms. My 4 y.o. desktop never noticed it. No UPS ...

Now if I could get Charter Comm to start using better power support on their equipment...

I have the Seasonic X750W (when it was Seasonic Top of the Line X-Series). Paid about 150 bucks for it. Now I'm salivating over the 1250W X-Series... gotta be at least $400.... but if it's < $300... hmm... just may transfer my 750 to my Hack, and use the 1250 for my W7...

then i'll just get a GTX 580 and sell my GTX 480 lol....

Been using my X760 for about 6 months now. Absolutely wonderful PSU. Can't recommend Seasonic enough! I'm certain these platinum PSU's will be awesome as well and we should be seeing an update from Corsair follow shortly with Seasonic as their OEM.

Very nice.

Been using Seasonic for every build for 15 years now - don't change what works.

X750 is fully modular.

i'm very interested in the 400watt version
my pc just happens to pull about 220 watts full load (which it is 24/7) 🙂
really looking at the gold version right now even ...

my electric company has tiered pricing, and i'm a few steps above the lowest rate
$200/month on the bill

I use an x850 and it's the best power supply I've ever owned. I'd love to check out their Platinum PSUs for a future build.

I have to give it to PSU manufacturers. They keep reselling the same tech in new packages and people buy it up. PSU tech hasn't changed in years but people still fall for the, it is new so it must have something special .
