tomb raider 2013 is how pc versions should be done imo

i finally decided to buy it and damn it's good... ever since crystal dynamics got their start in 1993 on the 3DO with crash and burn (very advanced for its day imo), they have never failed to deliver a game that i've played and would rate < 9/10.

in tomb raider 2013, they give you control over everything you could want control over, they gave the very best aa option (it should really be that way with every game, nothing other than a perfect implementation of 2x and 4x SGSSAA offered or just a check box to enable a perfect implementation of 4x SGSSAA), and it is super-stable on hardware from the ihv they dont sponsor anymore. they could've used lossless music and opengl, but i am not going to criticize because it doesnt have a whole lot of music and because hardly anyone uses opengl anymore.

all of that said, i give tomb raider the reboot a ~10/10 (99% to be more precise)

TR2013 was an awesome game, and definitely worth the 5-10 dollars its usually on sale for now.

Game has no replay value to speak of though, and all the DLC was complete trash. Even if you wanted a different skin for Lara, the fact that the DLC skins don't show any 'degradation' like her vanilla outfit kinda detracts from the feel of game.

I bought it last year but still haven't played it. It gets great reviews but so have a lot of games that ended up kinda sucky.

I'm a KB+Mouse type of guy, but I do have a theater with a 104" screen. Is this game better played on a computer with KB+M or will I fare well with my 360 controller on the big screen?

I hated it.

Tomb Raider has always been a favorite of mine, because of the loner feel to it. You are in great, mostly empty unknown areas, searching for elusive loot or even simply a way to progress.

It isn't the Witcher + Far Cry, where my bad ass relic hunter needs to level the tricks of her trade, nor have 'something' in every nook and cranny, nor be hard at all due to fighting while the exploring is stupidly obvious where to go.

Glad I only paid $8 for it. Another classic IP ruined imo.

Yep, loved the game. One of the very few games I've actually finished over the past couple of years. Tonnes of fun.

Yes great port, but Nixxes handled it. Just like Thief, Hitman, Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs.
If only all ports would have these standards.

I'd guess you'd prefer to spend hours stuck in a single area, unable to progress the plot or gameplay because you're dicking with a rope and pulley or a water weight puzzle.

Odds are good I'll be picking up Rise of the Tomb Raider shortly after its release.

I was never a TR fan on the consoles back in the day, but when they started coming to the PC I started to play them and enjoyed them a reasonable amount, I thought the reboot for the PC was absolutely brilliant, they really nailed it on so many levels, there was some of the typical console/noob/casual stuff in there but it was also just a damn good game for so many other reasons, It's one of the few games I continued to play through to 100%

I found it just "OK". The GFX, voice acting & atmosphere were great, but the Cut scene, QTE, cut scene, QTE, cut scene, QTE, etc... made it seem like someone else other than myself was "playing"...

It was my game of the year for 2013 until I played The Last of Us lol......I really enjoyed what they did; the history behind the story *if you know Japanese history or look it up; the details they went into the history part; not just Japanese History but the WWII history*

I can't wait for the next game. I had it for PS3 and for PC; PC far better experience....QTE; could of been toned back; but CD said they learned a lot from it; just like next Deus Ex......

I liked the game a lot! Only that I couldn't get myself to play it again after more than a year. It is fun while it's new, once the mystery is solved...:hmm:

In case nobody stated it-pretty annoying QTEs😛

I enjoyed it.i would of enjoyed it more without the QTEs as have been mentioned. My nephew is playing now and loving it.

I actually got annoyed post-story that they repopulated some of the areas with baddies. I was looking forward to just hunting and exploring to find all the relics/hit max level.

I suppose hitting max level does no good if there's no one to own. That was my own expectation, though.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I don't have a lot of experience with prior games in the series, but as a reboot and a game on its own I enjoyed it very much.

thank you.🙂 credits to nixxes as well. i looked them up on their website and they have been doing every crystal dynamics port to the pc since 1999 so it is a good thing they have stayed together.

This is why this is NOT how PC Games should be done. Anything that plays best on a console controller should stay on consoles.

The game itself was alright but nothing exceptional.

I played it with a keyboard and mouse and thought it played perfectly. /shrug
