Tomato Shibby - decrease 5ghz signal/range?

I have a Netgear Nighthawk r8000.
Wondering if there is any truth that Shibby reduces the range of the 5ghz? Also, does it affect the 2.4ghz?
 
The only thing the firmware can do is control how much power is outputted from the antenna (EIRP). 5ghz will always have a lower coverage than 2.4ghz due to the signal being easily absorbed by objects.
