Tom Ridge - Future President?

What does everyone think of Tom Ridge?

I know very little about him. But what I have seen, both as PA Govener and his new Homeland Security gig he seems like an okay guy....

Think he could be a president of the future?

Being from PA, I'd have to say I miss him as our Governor. I don't trust the new Governor here. I have often wondered about Ridge running for pres. Also I like John McKain and could see him running again.

I agree, I'm also in PA. When Bush took Ridge, we got stuck with Rendell. :| I work in Williamsport, and we know Rendell WELL here, this is where he ships all of his Cocaine-rehabs from Philadelphia. We now have a section of the city of druggies and welfare recipients, shootings, muggings, etc. Philadelphia has the worst school systems in PA and now he's our governor... He split his budget proposals in 2, which isn't even supposed to be legal, and then fudged the first half thinking congress was going to fight over it and never pass it, well it got passed with little touched and Rendell doesn't know what to do now, he's most likely going to veto his own budget proposal. If that did pass our local library is going to lose a lot of funding and they're going to have to lay off 18 library staff from the system. 🙁

I supsect Ridge may be sufficiently drained if not killed by the enormous pressures of his current post to entertain the notion of running for president. Imagine having to get all these governmental agencies to work together effectively and efficiently? I'm gonna bet it will kill him first. 😕

That disgusting piece of crap does not deserve to be dog catcher.

Yeah, he was definitely better than Rendell is. That guy has a shady history. But has anyone noticed the striking similarities:
Tom Ridge
Dick Tracy
Or an Archie character

Eerie.

Heh, I like Tom Ridge. I've helped him in some of his past campaigns for governor. I grew up in PA and most in my area overwhelmingly supported him.

Depending on what he is like now, I would be interested to see him as a presidential candidate. Though I was suprised to see his name up here.

Nope, not offended at all. This guy doesn't offer anything useful here though, evertime I see him post it's like reading something typed by a 4 year old who watches too much Pokemon. Maybe if his |-|@x0R c0o|n355 could explain why he thinks Ridge isn't worthy of being a dog catcher, he could add some insight to the thread.

Besides I wasn't being serious. 😛

edit: Sorry, I owe an apology to 3L33T32003. 🙁 I confused him for someone else and I retract my rude comments.

Hey may be a good guy, seems intelligent, and I think he may be a war hero of some sort, but he seems to have very little charisma. And that might be his undoing in a presidential campaign.

Isn't he the guy who lost out in the race by a small margain. Rather than drag out a Bush vs. Gore recount, he conceded even though he didn't have to for the good of his state. If that is him, then I respect him for doing that.

The problem isn't the man, it's the position. In his current job, all he can do is lose, but he can't win. If there are no terrorist attacks here in the U.S. the perception will be that none were attempted, so he'll be viewed as a figurehead. If any attacks do succeed he'll be viewed as the man who fell asleep at the switch and let it happen. Unless there's some sort of very public victory where it's proven that his office is directly responsible for stopping something serious, he can't come out of this as a clear winner.

You can keep this asswipe. He and his little group of party pals essentially shot the only deal we had to revamp the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard to hell. To bring it upto todays shipbuilding specs, and begin producing new ships for Kvaerner shipping. All he had to do was release state relief funds to help Kvaerner with the clean up that wouldve needed to take place to get the proper licensing to open it for business....and didnt do it, and on top of that, insulted the companies board with his now infamous "This is what we can offer and this is what they want." speech.

He's an asshole who cost my father his job two years before retirement.

Why would you blame a state governer for an issue the city mayor should have been taking care of? Those funds have to come from somewhere.

It's funny that nobody from PA likes Ed Rendell. I remember back when he was mayor of Philly, we were visiting the city and took carriage ride. The guy narrating the carriage ride said "there's our mayor" when we passed a guy in drag (wearing a hot pink dress) sitting on the sidewalk. I guess nobody likes the guy.

And yet, he continues to win elections...

I think he won governor because of his ad campaiqn. His road signs were bigger and prettier, he had 5 times the radio and television ads. A lot of it had to do with charisma - his ads always sounded more positive and put his competition down pretty bad.

If the ads had been my only knowledge of Rendell, I would have voted for him too. Unfortunately, I think the majority of the voters only know him from the ads...
