Tom Cruise is now the same age that Wilford Brimley was in Cocoon

Crazy to think, but Heartbreak Ridge was released in 1986. Clint Eastwood was 56 then.

This story started circulating when the latest Mission Impossible movie hit theaters. As I understand it, Wilfred Brimley's make up in Cocoon was done in such a way to age him for the part. So it isn't the greatest of comparisons.

This. The whole point of the movie "Cocoon" was that old people go into a magic alien pool and become young. So they chose some actors and applied old person makeup on them so that all they had to do to make them magically young again was to remove the makeup.

its actually common. his teeth are aligned a little off one way and his nose is sitting a little off the other way, which makes it seem like everything is way whacked.

And . . . ?

I'm not trying to pick on Wilford Brimley at all. I like him, and The Thing is one of my favorite movies. I sincerely wish Wilford Brimley a long, happy and successful life.

The whole thread was just to make an interesting observation (or at least interesting to me). The things you mention, while unfortunate for Mr. Brimley, don't in any way undermine the point that there was a startling disparity in their apparent ages while their chronological ages were the same. If you don't think it's interesting, no hard feelings on my part.

I know you are not picking on Wilford Brimley. It is just that the comparison may not be all that fair when thinking that for as far as we all know Tom Cruise is in very good health and has probably a life style(healthy food , regular exercising, low stress lifestyle, regular physical checkup) that ensures good health.
I also noticed that there are a lot of processed photo's of Tom cruise. Hardly anything can be found where you just see him on a normal day without the special lightning.

Clint Eastwood is another very good example.

Poor Tom. Yes, he still gets megabucks per film. Yes, people still think of him as a big star. Still, one day he won't be able to repel down skyscrapers or bed 25 yr. old starlets. He will not age gracefully, and his cockeyed belief system will eventually send him over the edge. Enjoy him (if you must) while you can.

Shens.
Hugh Hefner has ancient beliefs regarding male/female relationships and he STILL gets fresh young girls.
