Tom Clancy video games

What's the difference between all of the Tom Clancy games out there? Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbox Six, blah blah blah.

I can tell you that rainbow 6 is OLD. I think it was the first of the genre for the PC anyways. I played it just fine on a P200 MMX, voodoo1, and 16 MB ram until the last level where it was unplayable due to disk swapping (upping to 80 MB edo fixed that though). It's mostly meant to be a planning game; pick your team, equip them, map their routes/waypoints/go codes etc, and then just run through it. In actuality, it's easier and quicker just to put 4 guys armed with assault weapons on one team, set two waypoints, and then just freelance around yourself 🙂

Me too. I loved the original Rainbow Six. Great stuff. Not to brag, but I got pretty damn good at playing online, that many times I remember taking care of an opposing team mostly by myself. Good stuff.

My favorite map? The mansion/house map where one team started in different locations in the house, and the others in the backyard just over a small hill with a creek.

All Rainbow 6 games and Ghost Recon are squad based first person shooters that try to be as realistic as possible (one hit kills). Rainbow 6 is more about tight indoor levels while Ghost Recon is mostly wide open outdoor levels. In Rainbow 6 you plan the routes of all your teams before you start. In Ghost Recon, you you tell your squads where to go on a 2d map while you're playing the level instead of preplanning.

Splinter Cell is completely different. It's a 3rd person stealth/adventure game where you just go through linear levels, scripted things happen, etc.

ah, the days of R6 with 56k. My friend and I ran into the same room, threw frag gernades. When we saw the other throw a frag, we both ran forward to avoid it, running into our own nades. Coincidentally, I just bought the hardbound Rainbow Six on Friday for $5.
