Progression is a joke because they've basically slapped you with layers of RNG. Crafting is incredibly unrewarding. RNG to get materials. RNG to roll the item. RNG to recalibrate the item. It's painful. I think they needed to take a page out of D2's book with runes so you can craft exactly what you want to an extent. Roll a base weapon with the stats you want, find/buy rare mods which you apply to give the exact talents you're looking for. Something, anything, so you can at least work toward gear instead of the complete crapshoot it is now. Very lazy game design.

I'll certainly agree with that. I've done a good bit of crafting, but after getting an acceptable lvl 31 gold piece in a slot it's very tedious to get an improvement out of it. The vast majority of stuff I have crafted gets scrapped immediately.

The conclusion was it's faster to get them this way than playing dark zone or missions, due to the low HE drop rate (you get HE mats from boxes far more often than they drop from mobs, and the new blue/HE conversion rate will be 15/1). So now it's 'open a box' simulator?

Some other guys were comparing selling the lvl 30 purple gear as a low level alt (from stash), buying cheap blues, putting them in stash, and having main character make materials from them.

Personally, I think the loot is already too rare. I have all gold, and haven't replaced a single piece in a week and a half. The endgame content isn't interesting enough to hold up by itself without the incentive of loot.

I'm not sure why the boxes shouldn't have a higher drop rate, otherwise why have them at all.

I agree, it's the 3x change in blue/HE mat conversion that makes farming for purple gear to deconstruct to mats way too inefficient.

That is just from a pure mat standpoint. We still will need PC and reg credits along with crafting mats. More than likely once those are taken into account something like lexington farming will still win out, or a little of both.

Well, a big 'clarification' or something to that effect today. So as of the patch all named bosses will have a guaranteed HE drop, lvl depending on the boss level. I wish they had mentioned this yesterday, unless it's a response to the massive negative reaction from the patch notes. In any case, I like it.

Oh also certain bosses will have certain items in the loot tables, so we can go to certain places for certain things rather than it being exclusively rng.

Think about the dark zone now, at least for the upper gear level one (another change, the new lvl 30 guys will have their own dark zone until they get better geared). Most of the gear people will be extracting will be high end, so someone running around will dz loot will be a much more enticing target. That combined with the airdrops will probably mean more pvp. Certainly an extraction will be more intense for solo players.

This also means grinding missions will certainly be worthwhile.

This is such a welcomed change and a massive step in the right direction. This should provide reason and worth to running all of the challenge missions, as long as the loot table has something you need.

Now if they would only deal with the hacking in the dark zone. It is been getting significantly worse this past week. Was getting shot through buildings and street today. Been stuck at 60/61 for a week due to lack of desire of dealing with the hackers. They are getting pretty brazen as well lately, openly talking about their hacks on coms...

2) I am level 21 with about 22 hours in the game. Leveling up is slower than I would like.
3) I was pumped for teamwork in this game. So far that's been lacking. I can matchmake with randoms for the mission, then the group usually disbands, and I'm seemingly the only one that ever has a mic. I hope for better group/teamwork play once I get to level 30 and hit the same dark zone as you all.
4) I have not crafted any weapons or gear. Right now any green or blue item I am re-crafting into High End items. Planning for the future when I finally get some HE stuff. I assume this is the smart thing to do?
5) I completely missed out on the exploits/gear looting you guys described a page or two back. I am thinking - once I get to level 30, great, but I'm still light years behind you all in terms of gear / weapons. It's probably impossible to catch up. Hopefully it's not a constant kill fest, and all of your gear isn't an "automatic win" vs a new 30.

With the change to HE gear being a 100% drop rate off named npcs after the patch you'll catch up after hitting 30. You can also craft some lower lvl gear now if you need to fill in some slots since HE farming will be quicker/easier after the patch.

Gear makes all the difference - I have a friend at 400k dps and I'm at 80k dps. There would be no contest in pvp.

I have a black market ak-74 rolled with damage quite high for its range, good talents, all HE weapon mods and am just pushing 130K.

Yea, 400k is a little rough. I can hit right below 300k if I change out a couple of my gear mods to more firearms and then stack accuracy to the moon which is most likely what this friend is doing. Accuracy does not actually increase damage done, it just inflates the stat screen.

now go over to the character tab, scroll down to weapons, look at that high accuracy #. Also, what secondary weapon/talents you have equipped will affect your primary dps # and vice versa.

Relying on the dps # on the stat page as an anywhere close to accurate representation of the dps a weapon is capable of doing is completely broken and has no actual value in this game at this time.

I found leveling time decreased greatly when skipping all the evidence and just sticking to encounters and missions.

I'm 195k unbuffed with a Brutal/Deadly/Meticulous AR. No accuracy inflation, just grip (don't think you can get a HE grip without it), and I think my flash hider maybe but I only wanted the stability or crit dmg (forget whats on the flash hider). Scope is crit dmg/headshot dmg/crit chance where I can help it and mag is firing rate. The double mag capacity and firing rate is the single biggest DPS bump on that gun.

Average 90-140k headshots vs elites with the AR and 600k with the M1A. I try to keep 100% uptime with pulse or smart cover depending on which the group members run with. With water, tactical link, smart cover, pulse, etc that goes up to 200k+ with the AR and 1 mil for the M1A. Yes that's 200k per bullet from an AR with 50% crits IIRC. With that kind of damage you can just shoot tanks in the face and melt them and not even bother with their ammo cans. With the talent for increased stability from cover, it shoots like a laser beam with no recoil too.

The best example I can give with all of this combined is being able to melt everything in the elevator in the second wave of Lex on the rooftop as soon as the door opens in like 3 seconds before anything even has time to get out of the room provided everyone else is geared (hey, I have to reload you know!)

The DPS number is BS. What matters is what you actually hit on a real target. Even paper targets in the firing range don't show enemy armor damage, % damage against elites, etc.

I was just having fun popping buffs and inflating my epeen with that screen cap.

It doesn't seem too far from the truth though when I can pop everything and mow a tank down in seconds without hitting the ammo can 😀 Though it's better to hit the ammo can then you can take out two targets in parallel and keep more fire off the group.

Exactly. LOL, you had me spending about 30 minutes last night trying to see if I could even get close to 400k without buffs. Think I hit 290ish stacking accuracy and crap.

Yea, most people do not use smart cover at all. I think this is why people have such a hard time with challenges to start. Most people pug and mosat pugs are pure dps builds. We always run with one pure support build, still working on getting their skill power up, at 35k atm running smart cover and pulse.

This is what we do as well, same thing on the last pull when Larea Barret (boss of lexington) comes out the doors at the bottom. A flashbang, a grenade or two, and tac link and they all go down. Most of the time.

Yea, I wish it was more accurate. So many people rely on it and treat it as accurate. Then they come in talking about their 150k dps and start shooting noodle bullets.
