The only vendors you should be using late game is the high level DZ vendors and the Special Weapons vendor upstairs at the BoO.

Yea I never buy anything from vendors. I usually sell stuff though if I don't feel like disassembling it. I haven't played in a week or more and I'm still level 10.
 
I've dismantled everything assuming having mats at late game better than trying to buy the overpriced vendor stuff.

this is what I have done as well. especially since selling items, at least in early game gives you very little money.


Vendor: Hey come buy this nice pistol! It's only $2500!

Me: Hey vendor, I found this nice pistol in a chest. What will you give me for it?
Vendor: $30


Actually thinking about it, who are these vendors? Aren't they JTF guys? If so, why are they selling JTF gear? Shouldn't they be giving that to you for free since you're pretty much out there alone saving NY?

I am deconstructing almost all my blue and purple drops. I still pick up greens to sell so I have credits for the recalibration table.
 
I crafted about 25 weapons, ended up with an ok Navy MP5 and a Blk Mkt AK-47. Even those two don't have great rolls but the others were worse and I didn't want to waste more mats. That leaves me with HE in all major slots except pistol. Current stats: AK/MP5/1911 - 144k/121k/54k, HP - 69k, SP - 15k, AMR - 54% but capped in cover w/ Chest piece talent.

Are most of you with lvl 31 HE gear crafting it or farming drops?

Most of my HE is crafted, most of exdeath's is farmed.
 
Did russian consulate on challenging with pixel and 2 randoms last night. Holy hell that was hard! Of course i dont think i was quite ready for it gear wise. I think we went through like 3 different players until we got the last 2 to stay and finish. They turned out to be pretty cool and we all added each other as friends. Farmed hornet a few times. I got a good assault rifle but everything was pretty meh. The one guy walked is through how to farm hornet.
 
Thanks for the tips so far. I'm in all purple now pretty much, about 75k/45k/15k. Definitely could up my primary's DPS if I could find a good purple magazine. I have enough phoenix credits to buy the HE extended magazine blueprint which would give me an enormous dps increase but getting the mats has posed a problem - I can't pub challenging mode; and when I head into the DZ there's always a level 50+ (was just ganked by a level 72 or so) dark zone guy in permanent manhunt mode (with at least one accomplice) running from extraction point to extraction point killing everyone. Not whining - but I think grinding there will be slow going. Up to level 10 in the dark zone (lol).

I tried adding exdeath - happy to play with others too. I'm 'AnAristotelian'. I'm at the stage now where any pub I'm in absolutely destroys hardmode, and I need a few more upgrades to get into challenging level farming groups I think. Happy to help others too.
 
Keep in mind you can combine the lower level mats into the higher level ones. That's the only reason to keep picking up blue and purple gear is to deconstruct it. You don't have to run challenge mode for the mats. You can also get HE mats from the various creates in the higher level zones although that's very much a crapshoot.

Did you add "exdeath" or "TerminatorSVT"? The latter is his ingame name.

it was insanely hard 🙂 i got one yellow gun, a sniper rifle, from farming hornet.

those last two dudes were very cool cats. we should do a mission with them tonight as well. i'd really like to farm the hospital mission again.

question to the high level folks - besides Hornet, do any other bosses one can farm also drop HE items?

also that hours played graph can be very skewed. i've passed out a few nights or more where i leave the game on my pc minimized. that counts as hours played - while I'm sleeping 🙂

Is it just me or is there something way off on how guns should handle in this game.

1. SMG's like the Vector and Midas has very little recoil at all. They're the easiest guns to use.

2. AR's are horrible. I got HE AK, Liberator, M4, LVOA. They all handle like crap. Way too much recoil. I have to hold right stick all the way down, and it still jumps all the way up. On paper, they're supposed to have better accuracy than the smg's, but in action they don't.

At range the AR should be way better than the smg's. SMG's should have higher fire rate, but more recoil making them the better option in CQC, but the AR really is not competitive with the smg at all.

So, the best two weapons to carry around are the sniper rifles (M1A is the best one in my experience) and an smg. I'll switch to an LMG, M60, if I run out of ammo with either. I really want to enjoy using an AK or M4, but they suck. Even though their paper DPS is really good.
 
Worst thing about AR and LMG is they have no native bonus like DMR and SMG.

Damage falloff really does make the AR better at range. The trouble is that the SMG range is generally enough on most maps. Last checkpoint on lincoln tunnel challenging is the only place I place through often that I feel a smg limits me.

the tactical ACR doesn't have bad recoil for an AR
