Tom Brady sat during the National Anthem. Trump and all the rabid righties didn't care.

From this past weekend's AFC Championship game. I assume they didn't care because it wasn't Colin Kapernick.

Pshhhh the NFL thing was like 2 million news cycles ago.

Besides, America's QB Tom Brady wasn't put up to this by Barrak HUSSEIN Obama and the Sorros group or something I don't know what's happening in MAGA land and it's too depressing to even come up with a joke

No it's not. He's white you see.
I don’t care what color he is. The NFL decided to get in bed with the military, and those advertising dollars partially pay for the player’s salaries. If you are going to fly jets over the stadium and parade out soldiers in uniform during the anthem and wear special military themed and colored training gear, then stand for the anthem.

Well apparently all those "patriots" that were so amazingly concerned about disrespecting the troops seem to be giving him a pass, so I think you're overreacting here. Guy's white give him a break.

Moderately serious question:

Is the NFL getting Government money during the shut down

Yeah, while it appears fairly likely he was sitting during part of it you can’t be sure from that video.

Let’s be honest here though, nobody cared about the sitting during the national anthem part anyway. They cared about the black people protesting part.

Assuming there is no delay from camera to camera he was pretty clearly sitting comfortably for more than the couple of seconds between the end of the song and him getting his ass up.

So true... It filled up so many empty sports talk days. Thank heaven for that. It's all about the entertainment!

It's almost like conservatives weren't sincere with their outrage when employees dont fall in line, or their disdain for uppity black folks was sincere, your pick conservatives.

Others of us thought the whole thing was stupid and a waste of everyone's time.

I can't decide where you're coming from. I suppose you're justifying the outrage (um, discomfort with) Tom not toeing the line. Myself, I confess, I was rooting against the Pats and Tom. Belichek's surly face is no revelation. Tom's smile does not generate satisfaction.

But you're right... the NFL's affinity with the military is disquieting and I think that's you're message.

Also, I don't think military money goes to player's salaries, no? The military pays the NFL for advertising, which goes to the organization and not to individual teams. Owners keep their own payrolls and are responsible for player salaries. Some "pool" of NFL money going to individual players sounds to me a bit like the Rams somehow being responsible for some percentage of Brady's salary? Am I wrong?

Is that why the President accused them of disrespecting the military?

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that think Trump is a conservative and represents conservative values. This should not be the case.

I find all stories about people sitting or kneeling during the national anthem completely boring and distracting. I don't give a shit, period. If a player has something interesting to say, great, I want to hear it. I'm glad that people like Kerr, Curry, James speak their minds, and yeah, LeBron should not be told to shut up and dribble.

The scary thing is that I think he DOES represent conservative values. He may not represent what conservative values were at one point but he clearly represents what they are today.

If a group chooses to make someone their leader, it is only logical for others to believe that that leader represents that group's values.

I'm not 100% behind this... Because I think it's more complicated than that, and I don't think Trump stands for an awful lot... But I recognize that there's no reason to argue otherwise when we vote by "team" these days...
