+2iunno....if it were any other team, maybe. But the Pats have a history of disregarding rules. They lost their "gee I didn't know" pass a while ago.

:sneaky:Everybody knows you inflate footballs to the sidewall.
I guarantee that every great QB EVER has modified or adjusted a football to their liking.
I guarantee you Kurt Warner didn't give a fuck about modifying or adjusting the ball since he threw with a glove on + has some pretty big hands to grip a ball with, and considering he'll be in the HOF on his 1st try 9 days from now I'd say he's a great QB.
It took a couple of days, but #DeflateGate is officially a full-blown NFL controversy, inflating ratings and page views throughout the sports media.
Adding to the intrigue is the vague notion that other quarterbacks have doctored footballs. Former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Brad Johnson has admitted paying ball boys to scuff up footballs before the 37th installment of the NFL’s premier event — although he insists he violated no rules. Now, a former Heisman winner who never quite made it at the pro level contends that most quarterbacks do something to the football.
“Every team tampers with the footballs,” Matt Leinart said on Twitter. “Ask any Qb In the league, this is ridiculous!!”
Leinart then carved out one exception: “Actually my guy @kurt13warner didn’t tamper w the footballs because he wore gloves,” Leinart said. “Used to irritate me..So correction, almost all QBs!”
Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal, who’s currently in Mobile, Alabama for the first significant pre-draft event, supports the notion that tampering is commonplace by noting that “NFL head coaches here at Senior Bowl seem downright offended that people think this deflation stuff is a big deal.”
While the rules are the rules (brilliant!), the question of whether the rules regarding ball inflation/deflation are commonly ignored become as relevant to the final analysis of #DeflateGate as does the Patriots’ past transgression from 2007. If, that is, the NFL concludes that 11 of 12 footballs used by New England in the first half of the AFC title game were two pounds per square inch below the minimum due to deliberate misconduct.
You're right, I read an article the other day...can't remember who was quoted, but he said basically the same thing...that Warner would be the only exception. Damn, now I have to look that up, and it was quoted from some guy from the Arizona team too, if I remember right!
That's why you don't see any QBs making a big deal about it. Aaron Rodgers has already admitted to over-inflating his footballs. Sounded like the refs don't always do a complete job checking them and he sometimes gets away with it.
Interesting that the NFL hasn't interviewed Brady. From the radio and watching the physics professor on ESPN, do the refs constantly check the ball during a cold game like the prior week against Baltimore? In such cold weather, the ball will deflate. Do the refs check them at half-time and fill them back-up to spec? I doubt it. It's quite possible that the balls were inflated in a very warm room before going to the refs and when they sat outside before the games lost a few psi.

NO. Nobody in the NFL really gives a shit. As I have said before, everything I have read and heard about this topic, noone in the NFL really cares about it. Oh, they all know it is going on, but THEY all take it as part of normal procedure. The fucking Colts decided to whine about it and bring it to the attention of the public, because they fucking suck. Thanks Colts! Thanks a fucking LOT!
Edit Guess I should clarify...the Refs only check the balls before the game, but never after that. They have their hands on the balls constantly during the game...and even then, not one of them noticed the ball was deflated for the Pats. But again, this is NOT a concern in the NFL. It is widely known and accepted that the ball is "customized" for each QB. No one cares. The whole fucking story is being blown out of proportion.
It sounds like this may become the most watched Super Bowl due to this controversy, maybe that's why the NFL isn't saying anything about it.

I doubt that anyone that wouldn't normally watch the Super Bowl will really give a shit.
why is the NFL so lazy / cheap that they can't provide the balls?
Yeah Matt Leinart said it in an interview that's how I thought of it lol. Apparent Kurt liked his balls right out of the box or something.
balls that were fixed at halftime and ne out scores colts 28-0 in 2nd half. Not a single referee noticed it during 1st half? Anything could have happened. Wouldn't even be surprised if it was some ticked of ravens fan that found a way to do it.
this is the biggest non-event ever. I can't believe i'm going to hear this shit for two weeks.
404 - rage not found
So Kurt Warner didn't tamper with the balls, he got all the help he needed from the gloves. So one form of "tampering" or another, yeah?Yeah Matt Leinart said it in an interview that's how I thought of it lol. Apparent Kurt liked his balls right out of the box or something.
Uh, bullshit.
We don't know what happened yet, but I suspect the Patriots did deflate the balls. I also suspect that even if they did, the NFL will sweep it under the carpet. Don't like being accused of cheating? Here's an easy way to avoid it -- how about NOT cheating? You guys who are saying things like "Uh, well, it didn't really affect the outcome so we should just ignore it" are completely and totally missing the point. Not surprising for Patriots fans, but I'll spell it out again: Outcome doesn't matter, intention does.
The fact that there are people in this thread saying "Oh, it didn't impact the outcome, so let's drop it" is a really, REALLY sad statement about the mentality here. I don't care if the Colts lost 70-0, if I heard they were pulling shenanigans like this, I'd want them punished. Patriots fans desperate for a SB win, however, apparently are willing to look past anything. You have a coach with a documented history of cheating and questionable behavior but as long as he keeps winning, you guys look beyond it. I really hope I don't hear any Patriots fans bashing Carroll over the next several days for his cheating in college, because he has nothing on Bill.
Good luck to you Patriots fans in the Super Bowl -- the shitstorm you're going to experience if they lose will probably cause half of you to jump off a building.
Don Shula is a bitter old dustbag who happens to be correct in this case.
