she works in the same office but for a different company. i already found this girl attractive and now she dyed her hair red (my favorite color tied with green) and today when we walked by in the hallway she smiled and greeted me (she is always cheerful) and it just came out "i like your hair" I wasnt even thinking about saying it, and she was saying something to me at the same time like "hows it going" so we kind of talked over each other and then she was like "what?" and so i said it again "i like your hair it looks nice", she smiled and thanked me, we both kept going our own way though because we were just passing in the hall.

To avoid miscommunication, provide a description of her hair and let her draw an emotional response from your description - rather than giving your own subjective description (I.E I like).

So, for example, "I think your hair looks well done today!", or "I think your hair looks classy today!". It's a subtle change that avoids the awkwardness that can sometimes be experienced. Obviously if you intend to hit on the person, this is not necessary.
