Toilet Water

I was sitting on the toilet and thinking to myself, why are toilets always hooked up to the cold water lines. Why can't they be hooked up to the hot water lines that way when it splashes on ya its a little warm. Would be a great idea especially for the winter. So, does anybody have an answer to why its always the cold water lines?

And you thought natural gas prices were high now...

You flush like 3-4 gallons with a regular toliet.

Once the bowl is full the water is going to drop to room temperature anyway. The hot water only stays hot in the water heater.

If you really wanna fill the bowl with hot water only to let it turn cold by the time you use it next, go for it.

Wouldnt that hurt to have 110-120 degree water hittin you in the arse whenver you flush?

All the floats and stuff on the inside would have to be able to handle the hot water...and the water wouldn't stay hot anyway. It would just turn cold.

#2...the hot water heater would never turn off. It would be tryin to make enough hot water for the toilet(s). Bad for heater and shorter life.

Gran'pa did that a few years back and you do NOT want to smell turd fondue after it has been roasting in 120F water.

what are you people talking about. The water line goes to the tank not the bowl. Once you flush the toilet the water goes from the tank into the bowl. Not from the hot water line to the bowl. Unless you flush the toilet every 5 min the water in the tank will cool down to room temp. And if the water was hot when it reached the bowl it will just sit there and cool down anyway. So to answer the question, its useless to hook up a toilet to a hot water line the water in the bowl or tank will just cool down.

Something like those toilets at the camping-site on a very hot day?

*retches*

if you really wanted warm water in the bowl you could rig up a fish tank heater to hang on the side of the bowl..

1.6 gallons per flush on most newer efficient toilets...😉

Actually I had a blender put on one of our toilets during a bath remodel to bring some warm water into the tank. Cuts down enormously on the tank sweating in the summer, which was damaging the flooring, etc.

This is pretty common.

Wouldn't hot water cause your fumes to rise??? Put a turd in cold bowl of water, sniff.

put a turb in warm bowl of water, sniff..

It is actually quite nice!!!!!!!!!!

A few years ago I had this experience. The building only had hot water service (maintenance quirk) and being in the middle of winter sitting on a warm bowl with the warm water splash was very nice!!!!!!! Alas they fixed the problem and I haven't had such an experience since. 🙁
