Gotta replace the toilet components; ballcock and all the crap (no pun intended) in the tank.

What are the best replacements from Lowes or Home Deopt?

Just get a new set from HD or lowes. An entire replacement set including everything except the handle and lever is about $13.

Going to Lowe's this evening to buy an entire replacement. Any one better than the other, or should I just look for the best deal?

Don't get the ballcock (huhuh...I said ballcock) kind.

Get the kind that the float is built into the unit and just slides up the overflow tube.

I dunno. The ballcock is a bit more adjustable in my experience.

I've replaced the float style ones w/ the red/green kit discussed here. It still had issues about a year or 2 later. I think they all go bad over time... but I'm not a plumber, perhaps there is a very good one that is worth the money.

Get what's cheapest and from where it's most convenient. they will go bad in 2 years like clockwork. You think plumbers are dumb? Try needing one on a saturday night and see what the bill comes to..lol!!

Turns out the gaskets just need replaced on my old setup LINK.

Funny how the entire replacement cost the same as just replacing the gaskets. On the plus side I can replace the gaskets quicker an easier..

I replaced the ballcock device with the floating thing once. It was my first time doing it, and it only took me about 15 minutes to replace it. Really simple if you got all the tools and easy access.
