He already knew he was going to Tennessee and was going to play QB and also play baseball there.
His numbers outside of Coors are impressive as well, but I'm going to guess with his back problems his numbers may start to go down...I believe he has put on 30lbs this year....
In 2003 Helton had almost exactly the same number of at bats home and away, about 300 to 290 or so.
Runs 83H/52A
HomeRuns 23H/10A
Hits 117H/92A
RBI 72H/45R
AVG .391H/.324A
Slugging .739H/.514A
Eliminate the Coors Field stats and extrapolate the more accurate road stats out to 162 games and you have a guy hitting .324 with 20HR and 90RBI and 184 hits slugging .514. Pretty good numbers to be sure, but there's a HUGE drop-off between what he does at Coors and the more realistic road stats.
In the dead ball era, 1927 Lou Gehrig hit .373 with 47HR, 175RBI 218 hits slugging .765
'Nough said. Heltons stats are a joke. Take out the Coors Field element and he's not even close to being the best first baseman of THIS time let alone of all time. He's not worthy to carry Gehrig's jockstrap.
