Todays "Special Guest" on Rush

I'm not 100% against bush, and i admittedly used to listen (back in clinton days) to limbaugh so this came as a bit of a reason to just possibly listen again. Yes i know its a horribly biased show, yes i know its probobly going to be completely one sided and no good questions asked, yes i know its probobly going to make me sick but its really interesting that the pres has the balls to go on rush's show only a week after his big fiasco.

Maybe he and Rush can have pretend seizures and continue to poke fun at Michael J Fox together. Awwwww, how cute that would be!

I wouldn't be surprised if the President used this opportunity to gently chide Rush about the Fox thing. The polling on that issue is still overwhelmingly negative toward Rush and positive toward Fox, so it would be a relatively cheap way for the President to curry favor with moderates.

I'm thinking they will do their best to chide Kerry for his recent critizism of the chickenhawks.

That will clearly be the thrust of the presentation.

Maybe they'll compare drug addiction stories???

So drug addiction is not a disease and can be joked about?

Gotya.

Have you ever heard Rush's firebreathing rhetoric about drug users BEFORE it became clear he was a pillhead? He said all drug users should be deported, among many other things. I don't think it's unreasonable to point out his own hypocrisy.

So you lower yourself to his level?

Take the high road (no pun intended)

Pointing out Rush's hypocrisy is not going down to Rush's level. I I both have sympathy for Rush, and see the need to criticize his earlier statements on the topic of drug addiction.

Could have sworn it was a choice whether to take drugs or not.. hmm... Considering I have never taken any drugs, never smoked, and never even once, even so much as sipped alcohol.. I guess I avoided the "disease"!

Trying illegal drugs and then becoming an addict is a choice. You choose to use the illegal drug in the first place.

Rush was not addicted to illegal drugs though, he was addicted to a prescription drug that a doctor TOLD him to take. Very big difference. Nobody chooses to become addicted to prescription pain pills, it destroys lives, marriages and careers.
If you undergo some sort of surgery and a doctor tells you to take Oxycodone/OxyContin you could very well become addicted to it yourself.

Prescription drugs are IMHO much worse than anything except crack and heroin. They don't drug test for it when you apply for a job, there is very little in the way of field sobriety tests if you get pulled over.

A very high percentage of teenagers and adults are now on some sort of medication, whether it's Ritalin, Zoloft or whatever. It's creating tons and tons of addicts everyday, yet it's a-ok as far as the government is concerned since big Pharm is making a killing.

So why again is marijuana illegal? Is it because any schmo can grow it in their backyard?

It is illegal to go doctor shopping for them though. Nice job leaving that out by the way.

Once you are addicted you will do anything you can to feed that addiction.

BTW: They were never able to prove the Doctor shopping allegation they did not even charge him with a crime.

Here's what you all forget. Rush got his pills from his maid.
Criminal offense.
