The whole illness thing is just another example of how people avoid responsibility and want to become a victim.

You know, that's exactly what an Army Ranger said to me. He could go for days without water, eat bugs, etc. Yet when it came to alcohol for some reason he couldn't stop drinking.
Of course its a weakness. Plenty of people like this Army Ranger who basically live a life of overcoming adversity are alcoholics so it must be a weakness.

The risk for dependency is mostly ameliorated by proper dosage. Typically addicts are people who started abusing the drug and became dependent.
