Today's science experiment! Did you know that "perfectduster crap" is explosive??

Well, I recently bought some of that compressed air "duster" crap so I could clean out my computer. Well, I was shredding some documents in my shredder and it got jammed with some paper. I unplugged it and tried to get the paper out. Well, I put it back on the little trash can it came with and tried it again to no avail. I then used that compressed air crap to try and blow out the paper while it was still on the trashcan. I got the paper out, but when I turned it back on it exploded!! Blew the shredder right off the garbage can, and burned my hand in the process. What I am guessing is that the gas in the duster is flammable, and while I was trying to clean my shredder, it filled up the trash can with gas. When I turned it on it must have sparked and ignited the gas.......:Q😱

Interesting little occurence.......:Q

Of course it's flammable. You can tell by the odor that it's butane or something. And I'm certain that there are warnings on the label.

That's just sad.

HAHAHA! Thats funny, and yet I can see it easily happening. One of those things you just wouldnt think of, even though if you THINK about it its obvious

Duh! I thought everyone and their grandma knew that shiznit was flammable!

When I was 13, I froze a small houseplant in front of my friends with compressed "air". They all though it was cool, but knowing that it was flammable, I went to set it on fire. The bitch ignited, I had a huge blue burning toxic flame blow-up in my face, I inhaled the fumes, and had singed eyebrows and hair. I couldn't smell anything for about a week, and almost passed out when I initially inhaled the fumes.

And you know what the sad thing is? - I did the same thing again 2 weeks after that 😉

That's why we're required to use argon where dry cleaning fluid (compressed gas) is needed to remove contaminants. 🙂

I've seen these compressed air dusters before. Most are chlorofluorocarbon based (similar to refrigerants used in air conditioning units with much lower 03 depletion potential) and do not support combustion. These compounds can decay into rather hostile by-products if introduced around hot materials so NEVER smoke while using them!

Cheers!
