Today's random fact

The most common street names in the US are:

1. Second street
2. Third street
3. First street

How much sense does that make? Well, not much until we get to Fourth street, which is #4. And #5 is....you guessed it
....PARK street! Well, maybe you didn't guess it, but that's it.

I always thought the #1 was main street. I mean what town does not have a main street.

but main street is reserved for the 'big street' per town/city. Therefore frequency of usage for the name 'main street' is nowhere near big.

The first big street in my town is 4th street. 1-3 are north of that and kinda insignificant. In fact, they are in the process of removing them to make room for a highway.

Our Main street and Broadway are somewhere around 15th street or so. Which makes sense because that was the center of town way back in the day.

Well at 7th place I would say it is close to big. I just thought it was bigger.

Mission and Geary are the longest streets here. Market's pretty big too.

We got a Third street, but it's in the ghetto district.

washington? elm, oak, chestnut? N,S,E,W? most cities will have a MLK boulevard.

I would venture that 99% of small towns in America will have a Main Street. I doubt if 1% of them will have an MLK Boulevard. Just pulling a number out of my ass, I know-- but I think I'm fairly close.

Statistics show that 85% of statistics are made up 79% of the time.

We don't have a Main Street. Originally, the main road was named after a local river, and then they changed it to the names of two dead Nascar drivers.
